there is NO hole for a third bolt...so I dont know what you are looking at Mace..

But anyways...since there is no third bolt hole it appears that they arent anti inversion shackles afterall...well I guess the pic proves that anyway.

fj tilting forward

I have an 87 fj60 with OME heavy springs in rear and med springs in front with stock shackes. My problem is that the front end is lower than the rear...how can I correct this? I want the vehicle to be level and am thinking of installing 1 inch (over stock) front anti-inversion shackles? good idea?

I am using the cruiser off road primarily with a load in the back (extra fuel, gear, 4 people) I will try to attach some photos to illustrate my problem. The front end is much lower than the rear. the pic shows the vehicle on a sloped drive way...which doesn't help with the illustration.

is your front spring pack missing a leaf? looks kinda thin. i've got 5 leafs on the OME lights

I have 5 leafs in the front pack and 8 in the rear

I measured the front shackle bolt to bolt = 3 in

and the rear shackle bolt to bolt = 3 1/2 in

You would be better off with a add a leaf or some new springs in the front.

Don't you think a 4 inch shackle repalcement in the front would be ok?

How about if I replaced the two front with anti-inversion style shackles?

which size add a leaf? I have OME on the vehicle now...should I have a spring shop do it?

i think an add a leaf in your case would be a much better solution. i dont know about different size add a leafs

The one from Man-a-fre have really thick bars for the anti inversion part, i have one inch over stock and the shackles is getting pretty close to upright when the truck is at rest. Im thinking about switching to a thinner reinforcer, as it is im afraid its gonna hit the frame at full droop, or at least come close.

Of course if it barely clears that might not be bad, it would stop the inversion right as it began.

Mine from MAF look very similar to the ones on Toy60's rig. The 3rd bolt is
about the same size as the others. They call them 4+ now but back when
I bought them they were just anti-inversion shackles.
I've seen a shackle invert at Tellico on Upper 2 once. I have it on video.
Funny thing is as Eric was hammering a rock with his 60 I just happened
to zoom in on his shackle just as it inverted. Neat shot.
The 60's spare tire lowering rod made a nifty un- inverting shackle tool.
I've also seen a 40 have them invert while going down a "washboard"
gravel road at Uwharri.

Just get a shackle reversal. Even if you know you arnt going to hit the rocks. I have an LT1 Chevy motor witha 700r Tranny in mine on SOA and it was horrible on turns around the block. When I did the SR kit it made a world of difference.

SR really does nothing for handling. You probably addressed bushings, castor, toe , rod ends or a multitude of things that made it better..

Naaah the thing is that on a truck with shackles in front of the front axle, the body rolls from the front corner on a tight turn and with a SR it doesnt. You can really tell if you put attention to you hood on a tight turn.

i have ome heavy rears with ome medium fronts in the rear i have anti inversions and on the front i used my stock shackles , should i consider replacing the fronts with anti inversions ?

I was thinking about the Man a fre 's

4+PLUS GSK SUPER HD GREASEABLE ANTI-INVERSION SHACKLES 60 SERIES FRONT + 3 INCHES AND REAR + 2 INCHES (5-3/8 INCHES PIN TO PIN)

gskshacklesweb02.jpg

When it says +3 inches front and Plus +2 inches rear. Do you really get that much lift?

no, that's how much longer than a stock shackle it is. you will get about half that amount in lift

I figured it had to be that way, makes more sense.
