and that home made looking rod under the oil filter that bolts firewall to chassis on both sides of engine (same as my old 25 bones) do all aussies have that? its a good clue re aussie bodybuilders. fwed and aussie25 ill be looking more closely at your old posted photos.[/QUOTE]

Hi Henry Yes all the 25s I have do have these rods. It seems silly to me the cab is rubber mounted and these rods are solid. I was thinking of rubber mounting them ,havent got there yet. Cheers Fred.

Sorry for your loss also. I lost a sister to cancer ten years ago and it sucks.

As for the gas tank is appears to be like the tank that came in the soft top models. On those the door opening is smaller and the gas cut out is in tha location. The filler neck does seem a littler shorter. But the gas cap is correct:meh:

Hi The gas tank filler here in Aus is moved into the tank further so it clears the door . Yes it is A vented cap not for driving with windows closed. I will be venting my tank externaly Cheers Fred.

gday there punters! just dropping in to say hi and that i do still exist. things have been a bit hectic for me since xmas and the old tojo part of my life has been a bit neglected. my 64 is still not back together but crank has been undersized and bearings sourced. believe the block to be nice enough to keep standard but would rather go with some new standard pistons rather than rings alone. must drag my equally neglected camera out and post a couple pics. things are very quiet here in the 25 hollow.

on another note my mate sourced me a nice old NOS oil filter at a swapmeet this morning. both Thiess and TEQ markings on the box he told me. 'straight to the poolroom' (one to put on the shelf)
will post a pic when it gets to me eventually.

Good to see you are back. There is still a few parts turing up for them. A few i found over the last year. Even a set of exhaust clamps and vrs kits.

nice little stash. where are you finding most of it? hows your 25 tray project coming along? must remember to post you a cheque for that literature when i next get into town; apologies for the delay. this needing to earn a living is very disruptive to the hobbies

thanks ian, this old chassis topic interests me. i will compare that pic to some of my early chassis when i can get out and about. its a bit wet here at the moment; the fallout from tropical cyclone lua which crossed the pibara coast yesterday lunchtime.

keep an eye open for any old 62-64 fj45 chassis. all i have seen in wa are extended about 4 inches in that location. would like to know how this compares australiawide. i posted the question with some pics in the 45 section but didnt get much aussie feedback. threads do get a bit lost over there pretty quickly though so i should post some pics over here; im much more at home in the 25 hollow.

lengthening chassis from new was certainly in vogue in wa for a period i know of several examples. my neighbour has a pair of extended 84 fj45. he contemplating a 2h diesel conversion on one

there were also several fj45 built using the tojo as a prime mover and having a twenty foot semi trailer behind for carting sheep. my family had one as did 2 of our neighbours. the last existing one was sold out from under my nose for 500 about 3 years ago and i havnt been able to track it down.

apparently the trailers were built by a 'gardiner' bodyworks in perth. perhaps he did the later chassis extensions also. my father may remember some of this.

g'day punters! well seasons greetings to you all. things been bloody hectic at my end; not conducive to throwing spanners at old landcruisers at all. one old tojo in particular just sorta sighs and looks at me from a dusty corner of the shed while i busy myself with something else; usually 2h.

anyways the good news punters is that my mate has decided to wander eastward to visit family for new yrs so looks like we gonna slap a car trailer behind his ute so he can drag my little fj25 tray home from the 't otherside'. happy days! having that in the shed has gotta be like a whole jar of motivation pills for sure!

gotta a coupla hours ahead of me now catching up on happenings in the hollow. good luck to you all for 2013

My condolences for the loss.
On a lighter note, I enjoyed the stories and pictures you posted, and look forward to seeing more pics when you have the time.
Happy holidays

well g'day again all.

the big news from my end punters is my little fj25 tray came rolling up my driveway after being towed the last 2500km across the nullabore plain. she cleared the border checkpoint where they are very suspicious of old farm equipment due to their potential to carry noxious weed seeds etc. west australia is quiet geographically seperated from the rest of the continent with a fair chunk of dry uninhabited county in between. anyways i had cleaned the old girl as best i could when i first picked her up in readiness for this but a relief to be through i gather quarantine is not cheap. and she's as sexy as ever; i reckon they always look even better once you get them home!

no major plans at this stage. just tinker with the cooling system and mess of seized hydraulics and get mobile for a start.

i don't want to get too carried away until i get the motor back in my 64; that project seems to have stalled due to lack of pocketmoney haha. progress so far has been have the crank undersized 10 thou and source main bearings and gaskets. need big end shells and some new standard pistons i reckon the original bore good enough to run with. the valve train pretty good too; may just lap them myself. still deciding on that one.

i haven't had a chance to park the two side by side yet but thats gonna be nice! bit of shed shuffling to do. in recent weeks i finished a 6 bay carport along one side of my "house" (read - construction site) so the old 25 sitting pride of place near my outdoor table and beer fridge. very pleasant.

anyways sorry for loading the forum up with chat. just sorta checking in i suppose. if i ever clean the office and find my camera charger i will be back with a few pics.

I found this the last week in my tour around SW Queensland. Around 1966 fj45 with a bit welded in the chassis. Even the rivites go through it.

Hi Aussie 25. Where was this chassis in SW qld? For sale by any chance? I need a suitable chassis for my '62 cab, and many, many other bits....

 Lup.
