Checking all codes to confirm things has been challenging. Current color is gold, undernieth that is blue, code tag says black. Still don't know if it is base, dlx or sr5.

Sounds like every 1980's Toyota Ive ever seen.

Got to find an kill the electrical gremlins!
No power to factory pump leads.:bang:

Fuel tank is too different for me to use effectively so I've cleaned out the old one.

Ah.....the joys of antique ownership.

Does that motor have an air flow meter? Some toyotas will not power the fuel pump without air moving through the air flow meter.

Interesting, I will check on that.

Home PC is screwing up and I'm having trouble finding a wiring diagram I can actually read. The chiltons has really small diagrams, I can't even read them with a magnifying glass.

I may need to check that out.

I did find a way to check the fuel pump by just sticking a screw driver in it..... I mean the afm.

Thanks Gumby!

Excellent. My old bug was like that. If the flap moved by whatever means it would trigger the fuel pump.

My 80 1fzfe in the LV wouldn't start because I put the Afm in backwards. It's a hot wire meter, but it needed to see air flow to turn the pump on.

My old 4runner was the same. There is a jumper you can install in the test plug to check the fuel pump circuit, and bypass the AFM.
I just left the jumper in...you just have to remember not to leave the car "on" without it running.
There is a timing circuit that you are bypassing by installing the jumper. It normally allows the fuel pump to stay on for a short time with AFM closed. Then once the motor starts the AFM kicks in, and the pump stays on.

the first is from an 85, the second is 94...yours will be somewhere in between.
The 94 shows the whole circuit better, but it is similar on the 85.

Update: mini has no compression. I'm not sure exactly which direction it will go until I can get the motor tore down for possible rebuild.
