just returned home from up north and found no package at front door. I am getting a bit bitter at the dude for taking his time shipping the thing. I think I paid for it 3 seconds after winning the bid. Not looking like great feedback is coming his way unless he gets the thing here soon....

Ordered up a new Axial transmission, spur gear and pinion gear. Damn R2D DIG trans is way too much of a PIA, especially since I'm not running the Dig anymore. It's loud and chews up gears. My pinion is the latest victim.

New trans here on Tuesday.

I built new upper links and extended them about an inch further than the upper link holes on the stock chassis. It flexes pretty well now. Almost 90* and low center of gravity.

I do have to modify the body a little, but I decided to make the body fit what works rather than modify the chassis to fit the body.

I should not be allowed on the internet.

I just ordered a set of portal hubs. :D

mmmmmm

nice, whats the advantage you going for? You are raising your COG.

Funny you should mention that. In the thread on RCC one guy wanted to put them on upside down to lower his COG. :D

They will lower my gearing. 1.6:1. I'm worried that my gearing won't be low enough now that I'm going to a stock trans. They will also raise my diff for better clearance, Clarence.

Plus, they are portals, bitch.

Just ordered a Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster ESC. Little spendy, but good reviews. No worse money wise than a Tekin or a Novak. Probably a good thing they were out of stock on the Cobalt hand wound motors. They warn of breaking things without an easy throttle finger.

mmm portals.... taller much?

Portals are the s***. I'm gonna start breaking stuff though. It just creeps now. It's weird having the axle shafts turning the wrong way and the motor torque the driver's side. I had to dial in a bunch of pass rear shock preload to get it to climb. If it's too slow I can switch to the 35t motor or get a bigger pinion. I think it's OK, but it needs more time on the rocks to be sure. The truth is in the rocks.

Really gotta watch the dogbones disengaging the hub drives too. I'm going to try to machine down a set of CVs to work in the portals. I ordered a complete set of Axial aluminum Cs. I don't think the stock plastic Cs in the rear are going to hold up and the aluminum ones in the front are sloppy.

Filled the R2D full of the right kind of grease and it seems to work a lot better, but it's puking grease out now. What a pain. I ordered the correct shaft for the Axial trans so I can switch to that if I want to.

Went and picked up a bed full of nice rocks today. Lots of granite, some quartz, and other cool rocks.

It was cold and rainy and now I can't charge 4rnr to play on the rock pile anymore since he got out of bed to come out and spend the day moving rocks.

Then we went to the RC store to play on the indoor course and I broke a plastic C. Fortunately I have a spare here at home and have new aluminum Cs on their way. the portals are going to be tough on parts, but they are cool as all get out.

The truck crawwwwls now.

werd.

Just got back from a trip to SMORR last week and Brandon and I picked out a spot for the RC area. I'll be heading back down in a week to put it in. It'll feature a banked oval dirt track, figure 8 and two big ol' rock piles for crawlin. You all should come down to Howiepalooza at the end of April...should be quite a few crawlers there, big and small. Like the mods...

I have a SHINNY new body!! I need to come by and destroy it on the rocks.
