Hi on opening the tail gate the other day and placing some wellies on the lower tail gate I heard a noise similar to a bottle of wine dropping on concrete
On further inspection I noticed that steel pipe work that runs from one side to the other under plastic hinged part had snapped off where it renters the near side of the tailgate
Any ideas what this is for and is it important that I repair it ?
I’ll try and add pictures tomorrow

This thing?

I just replaced mine as well it is pretty easy but you may also want to get the hardware to go with it if you have a bit of rust. There are some bolts, a guide, and some rubber grommets for an extra few bucks

That 2 jobs I've got to complete. This and the water trickling in through the speaker vent in the cargo area need sorting

Hey dude, I’ve got the parts ready to replace my torsion bar but it seems like I’d have to take the gate off to get it installed properly. Did you have to take the gate off the hinges to get the new bar in and the middle section bent back to the clip/guide? Or did you just muscle it into place with the gate still on the hinges?

Have you found the cause of the water intrusion? You might want to apply some Shin Etsu grease to your weather stripping on your rear quarter glass. That might be where the water is coming from.
