You can see where the 3 ribs are spot welded in, with a normal length jigsaw blade you can cut right through them if you go slow.

There is one section that you can not cut with the jig saw, if you do you will cut into the latch. I just use a cutoff wheel for that little bit, or you could block up the jig saw a bit, or use a shorter blade.
If you remove the inspection cover you can see the problem area.
I've attached a pic that shows the interference as well.

i like that kevin,21 is a good no.just post us on the progress,we'll be reading on.thank you. john

I know I'm a tard, but it's gonna hurt my feelings to cut my tailgate. Other than the dented up rear quarter my truck is a completely rust free body.

Oh well, guess it's gotta happen sometime.

Thanks again kevin for blazing the trail. Stellar work, and a great contribution to the community.

Hear that fellas? #3! :bounce:

That puts me around # 6 or so, eh? Can't wait, savin pennies & selling things now.

Tech content: what do you recommend to cover/coat plywood so dogs don't slip off when they jump in?

(think I'm kiddin? pup ate the carpet piece so I pulled it off. realized that was a mistake when the grownup dobers wouldn't jump in cuz they didn't like sliding off the other side.)

Thanks. Oh, and will you be doing inner quarter panels in the FS thread as well? Pretty please?

That undercoat is nice and grippy (but still semi-gloss so the dirt wipes right off)
My pup only started jumping in the tailgate AFTER I put that stuff on, has no problem now.

And I will definitely do some 1/4s as well. There was more interest in the tailgate boxes so I tried that first. The 1/4s will need to be on a more custom basis though, there are differences between the 60s & 62s, rear speakers, some folks might want a rear washer bottle holder, profile changes if truck still has full trim, rear seat belts, ect.ect. But if things go well I will make some of them too.

Add me to the list! Please let me know when they are available, and when they are, I can drive over and pick mine up.
