read the thread. This isn't a fs thread. He is developing an idea in the TECH forum. It may later be for sale in the FOR SALE forum. For now he is making a list of folks who may be interested, pending final info like price.

Folks, help me out here. Toyota TECH Forum

Please lets keep this thread as tech, I live for the tech stuff, that is why I started this thread in the first place.
Anything related to selling or purchasing tailgate boxes should be directed to the sale thread. Any of the fun stuff and cool ideas we should talk about here :grinpimp:

Kevin,

will you pm us when ready, or just write in the tread?

What are your thoughts on some weather stripping between the door and frame? So if the tailgate is open in the rain, it could stay a little drier. Just a thought.

Ben

Not very often, mainly I just end up spilling beer all over it:beer: but I didn't want everyone to hear that and get the wrong impression :D. DON'T JUDGE ME!

My dogs, on the other hand, do transport a fair amount of water accross it.

Do you think a hi-lift jack would fit in the tailgate?

Ben

Ah, I see. There is not any provision for a weather-strip welt, and I can not see a simple way to incorporate one off the top of my head. I will think about it though, you might just have to get a sippy cup for your beer instead. :D

i would be grateful indeed if you could add me to that list!? i do alot of road-tripping, and this is definitely the most amazing-looking system i have seen!

thanks in advance!

Not impressive? Are you kidding me? It makes me drool!
Plus, I think I'm #6 or thereabouts, so one of those could be mine!!!!!

Thanks, lets hope I can make them look like more of something today.

I have not been able to notice any rattling and I have not been at all careful while packing it. The box itself is not likely to rattle because the coating I put on it has some dampening properties.
I do think it is imperative that sound deadening be applied to the inside of the tailgate. Not only to clean it up, but to make sure the contents do not rattle against the outer body skin. There is really no reason not to, access is so east once the inner panel has been cut out.
With sound deadening on the body panel and rubber coating on the lid, your stuff is basically in a padded envelope.

yummy.... mine is in the middle somewhere. yea!

Well, got a bit further today. My plan was to get the labor intensive stuff done and finish them off in the evenings during the week. I did just that, but 10 is too many for one weekend!
Went well but I will not do it like that again.
