Tailgate license light wiring (1 Viewer)

Curious about the correct wiring of the dropdown tailgate license plate lights

On mine there is a factory hole on the bottom corner of the tailgate (closest to the mount) that would appear to be a good place to wire into and out through a hole behind the license mount. However, there does not happen to be an exit hole behind my plate mount or in any photos I've seen of other factory tailgates.

I've got a hard top tub being restored to go with this tailgate so I don't know where the correct wiring hole on the tub would have been on the soft top model.

Obviously you could do it however you want but did want to know how they came from the factory.

make sure u install and use a rubber grommet here

[Living in the Past]

The earlier single lamp license plate bracket was made so the wiring harness fits between the lower two mounting screws. There are different versions of the later two lamp bracket. One has a way to secure the wiring harness coming from the bottom in the center.
