Well I'd have to agree with everyone else on this one...they don't offer any protection and will cause more damage if actually put to use.

On a brighter note...I think you're handling the harassment quite well. :flipoff2: Seems like it wasn't that long ago that we brought a guy to tears after only a few replies to his "brush gaurd" questions. He's ok now.

nyk438 you have over 250 posts did you not learn anything on here? Get those things off your truck. They look gay and are worthless. I know you like the look of them but they are damage magnets.

Given enough space between the tail guard and tail light, A branch will just get wedged in between the two and pull off the guard. just be lucky that the guard breaks off the vehicle cleanly.

Nyk348 has already got the stuff installed...

Man, I thought the guy was asking for directions to install the guards, not opinions about it. Let's not get sidetracked by questions like this.

cheers,
Frank.

I can point you to a Lexus glam-site or two -- guys there seem to be interested in stuff like the covers -- you should be able to sell quickly.

got a link? I've got the PO's Manik brushguard, 16" blings, and OEM step rails that would love to off load.

Bleh, bad for offroading, well I'll run em right now and later on I'll take em off...

i wouldn't mind these things if they worked as you would expect them to. However, i had an experience--and i am NOWHERE near as hardcore as most of the folks here--where a branch, i'd say 1/2" - 3/4" in diameter was sticking out. I drove thru a wash, the branch was damn loud as it was etching down my passenger side. It eventually caught the pass. rear taillight, and sorta dragged it out away from the rear corner about 1/4." Had a corner guard been on it, it would've had more to drag onto, and it would probably be worse.

Lexus Owners Club
and
Club Lexus
Just post in the forum section.

Please elaborate on the 16" blings.

Yes, please elaborate on the 16" blings.......I might need another set if they'd match my Manik taillight guards and brush guard.

:-)

the rims are 16" Daytons, 100 spoke with gold knock offs. NOT your cheapie 72 spoke, but the REAL stuff.

jk. These are American Racing 'Tyrants.' They seem to be in good shape, no dents that i can see, no losing air. Here's a pic of them on my truck, then some review i found on the net.

Maybe I should get a pair for my DISCO, look real "fly". HEY! Whats up with the oil leaking cracks, my disco does'nt leak a drop. Well, maybe just a little,....well, sometimes there are some small puddles,.... well they could be kind of big. Check you guys later, gotta go buy some oil.

Great, maybe this could be a tech faq  :flipoff2:

Thats it! I'm selling the 80 for a disco. Find some owners who won't ridicule me for having tail light guards :flipoff2:

I'm kidding, I would never put tail light guards on a disco :)

NYK, just turn a deaf ear to those critics. You see, they're primarily concerned with the bestest rock-crawlin' stuff, and are helplessly confined to that train of thought. LIke you, I kinda' like my tail light guards, AS WELL AS its matching 'not-an-ARB-bumper' brush guard!

Here are just a few suggestions for the guards....to help some of y'all out there get outside that proverbial box: FIRST...it make a handy bow rack between shots --

I thought tail light guards on a disco were standard equipment

Or........for those of you who've ever fished the canals around New Orleans....a double-trolling rig (note: this can also be used for narrow-bridge fishing):

Of course, pulling skateboarders around the neighborhood is always fun.....many variations on THIS use:

.......And you can always find a use for the "tailgate-down-cargo-retainer-attachment-point" trick. Actually, this is a really good one, and if you open the sunroof at the same time, you get flow-through ventilation AND less drag coefficient (i.e., improved MPG)

Kit, you're a card and you've got waaaay too much spare time! :D

Send me that little toy you've got for a tow strap. Is that thing like a whole 2" wide? j/k

Details on the fire extinguiser though.... why is it painted white? What size is it? How much and where? Is it mounted to the 3rd row seat belt anchor?

One more thing. Are those backup lights under the tow bar?
