this weekend i found a pretty good deal. At least its good for around here.
here's my score:

  • 4 OEM "x" pattern first gen 4runner wheels(pretty good shape only minor pitting. never been curbed or anything)

  • complete top shift transfer case with shifter,

  • and a set of nice uncracked SR5 left and right door panel arm rests (mine are the crappy DLX size and were cracked)

all for the sweet low price of 160 bucks.

maybe you guys dont think that is sweet, but ive been looking around here and I couldnt get anyone to come off a transfer case for less than 250.

One guy wanted 400 bucks for a set of beat up, curbed, and scrapped wheels.
No pictures yet, but I think i did good.

Mainly I posted cause I had to tell someone, but secondly I was looking into powder coating the wheels to make them look "factory fresh". anyone have any pics of first gen wheels powder coated like a semi gloss grey or aluminum color? Want to keep it appearing stock-like.

You meant this type of rim, correct? They're carried through the '95 model year on 4Runners as well as spec for some 80-series if that helps anyone else looking for them.

~FWIW I scarred one of mine up within about a week. Just letting you know to be careful, but at that price I doubt you are too worried. You should consider getting all your chit fixed and sign up for ROTM my man. It's about time we all see more of it. :steer:
For powdercoating just do a search on who does the Lexus work in your area or who does it for high end steel bicycle frames. Mine were restored/refinished by the Lexus Service Contractor out here who just shot them in clear.

I have 2 sets of those rims. One set came on my truck, they are badly pitted now. I might have them sand blasted and rattle can them dark gray.

The other set were on my son's 4Runner, 3 of them are in excellent condition, but one is damaged from hitting a curb in a snow-induced slide, it busted off about 3-4" of the bead. I'm not aware, is there any way to get this fixed?

Speaking of rims... remember these that they put on the mid-80's Supras?

My neighbor down the street just put the finishing touches on his '85 Supra with a twin turbo JDM engine, came out of a Arista (same as the Lexus GS to us). He couldn't find any tires that would hold the HP of the engine that would fit on these 15" rims. Then he found a set of amazing copies from Boyd Coddington. 17" diameter, one pair is 8" wide, the other are 10" wide. They were $900 PER RIM.

:flipoff2: My 8 spokes were better.
Borrowed pic, never should've sold mine, 22RTE swap, white interior, red exterior, magic USGP plate just to the right of the last slide button on the equalizer, just behind the gear shift.. :crybaby:

the 15" supras are stupid rare, only came on like mid 80's AUTO w/lsd....most had 14x7's

I like the PDC shot as well in SFO.

Nice huh? :) I couldn't resist the chance since San Ramon is right there by work. I'll have to do it at a better time of day w my camera instead.

Anyone looking for older parts just hit me up via pm since we have both Toyotas Only and ToyConnection4x4 locally. There's easily 50 or so T.O.R.C. members within an20 mile radius of our home. :)

Wait... are you saying you might be able to get some parts? I need some interior stuff, and some wiring. I'm converting my doors to power windows and locks, I need the harnesses that go thru the door jambs into the kick panels. They need to be from an '89 4Runner with the nice sculpted door panels. Any chance?

sweet posts fellas.
sorry for not responding. was out of town all week.
now I am back, and talked to my powder coating guy.

He is picking up my rear tube bumper that I just got from 4xinnovations tomorrow to be powder coated semi gloss black (to match my new ARB front ).

When he does that he is going to bring me a couple samples of some silvers/ grays/ and aluminum colors for me too see for my wheels. That way when I pick up the rear bumper i will give him the wheels.

Yeah I cant wait to get all this stuff on the truck and take a few photos. I think its going to be badass.

KLF, those old supra rims look sweet!! i bet they would look good on these 4runners as well. someone should photo-chop that up for us.
--Doh! just realized they are only four lug. it would still be cool to see i guess.
