I did not want to hi-jack the 65swb non- removable FJ45 thread since this is unrelated.

What is the purpose of the lip on the bed? It is just like or very similar to the body tub lip on a 40 series.

The LWB FJ45's seem to have a flat bed top.

Did they make a hard top to fit on the SWB non-removable top?

Thanks.

Dan-

Mike (crusher boy) and I were discussing this last week. It seems to have the same lines as the 40. A small ridge on both sides and tapers to flat at the quarter panels and is flush at the rear (maybe for the tailgate).

The only thing I can think of is they copied the 40 and used the same casts (not sure what the term is in the auto world) for cost.

I was thinking the same thing.

Much easier to make a bed out of exsisting parts.

Tapers to flat? Hanh?

I figure it was just to fit in with what they were already making.. So who is going to be the one to build a 40 style canopy that will just drop on there?

THAT would be cool. A vintage style hard top canopy for the shorty......... every time I have looked at a short box I wondered about the box rails and why they made them that way. I always assumed there was a top for them because of the cross section looking like half of a mating surface. Someone's got to make one....:D canopies are cool - and they keep the snow off your stuff (around here). I'm going to make a canvas military style soft canopy for my LWB when I get that far. I just have to find my box of roundtoit's.
:hhmm:

And look, it has those dealer installed J hooks!
