I have a 1999 100 series that I would like to refresh the suspension. I broke 2 rear u-joints at Cruise Moab last week and I am suspecting my rear control arm bushings are worn to the point of causing some axle wrap... and there was some user error in the way of too much skinny pedal.

Anyhow, do any of our fine vendors sell a bushing refresh kit? I am hoping to replace the rubber on the following:
  • Front sway bar
  • Rear sway bar
  • Front upper control arm (or replace entirely)
  • Lower control arm
  • Rear sway bar
  • Rear track/control arms
  • Panhard bar
Ordering all these from Mr. T is going to hurt, does anyone know of a kit or kits to accomplish this?

Looking to replace CA bushings and ball joints, but it doesn’t look like this kit is available anymore. Not worried about rebuilding but it doesn’t look like this kit is in stock anymore (and it was somewhat expensive to begin with).

Is there another source, or is the best option now doing a total replacement? Front Upper & Lower Control Arm Kit- Fits 1998 - 2007 IFS 100/470 Applications (SUS100FCAKITJP) - https://cruiserteq.com/front-upper-lower-control-arm-kit-fits-1998-2007-ifs-100-470-applications-sus100fcakitjp/

We have kits with a mix of OEM and aftermarket parts too, options for all budgets. Kits are generally good in stock but occasionally we are waiting on large batches of parts from Toyota. Shoot an email to the shop and they can quickly update you: Info@cruiseroutfitters.com

Alright - both emailed and figured out what I need from the old kit listing. Looks like a bushing refresh with OEM and 555 ball joints is a $700 shipped part order, vs around $1100 for the 555 upper/lower CA set and frame side bushings. My originals are in good shape overall, so a “would you rather” for those that have messed with different options: OEM rebuilt, or 555 brand new set?

Time is a consideration, but I have a second set of very experienced hands to help out along with enough equipment to get the job done right.

I found best prices through Impex, with the yen being so cheap. I elected to buy the front LCA bushing themselves, pushed them out with a rod/pusher kit ($150 on Amazon). Then just bought front UCA complete. At the time (a few months ago) I went through and compared pricing between domestic dealers, partsouq, and Impex. Impex won even with shipping heavy items like my rear UCA/LCA arms too.

This is generally what I decided on as well. Seems to be the best combination of price and ease of replacement. I did end up going with US distributors to expedite shipping, but we will see if that works the week of the 4th… Would like to spend the long weekend wrenching without a worry about getting stuck in the middle of a bushing replacement…

This is exactly what I did with my LX - bushings @ Impex are ~$15/each, rather than $60 here in the US at dealers.

Man I hope that shipping is indeed faster…

FYI, Partsgeek also has the 555 UCAs for under $70/ea. You could do a whole front end CA refresh between Impex and Partsgeek for like $350.

Kudos to cruiseroutfit for the quick shipment on LCA bushings. Ordered Sunday evening, on my front step Wednesday morning. Worth the price to get wrenching over a long holiday weekend!

a bump on this thread as I'm doing a front end refresh and want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
**Main questions to keep in mind before I get into the details - Am I missing anything in what I've ordered before I tear this thing apart? Any low-hanging-fruit I should be doing while I have it torn down? Any other specialty tools needed other than the press for the ball joints/bushings?

My mechanic says that all the following are worn (to varying degrees of severity - a few are becoming saftey concerns):
- Upper and lower control arm ball joints (both sides)
- inner and outer tie rod ends
- all CA bushings
- steering rack bushings
- power steering hoses
- sway bar bushings
- leaky passenger axle

So I've just ordered:
- Front and rear bushing kit from Whiteline - unfortunately Cruiserteq was out of stock
- 555 upper and lower ball joints
- 555 tie rod end kit
- A-Premium Axle
- Sunsong steering hose assembly
- Super-Pro steering rack bushings
- Sway bar refresh kit by Cruiserteq

All of that is setting me back ~$1,500 (ouch) but better than the ~3,200 the mechanic wants to put it in. I'm guessing I have a full 6-8 hours ahead of me to get all this stuff installed. But, have never replaced ball joints or bushings before, so I'm hoping the O'Reilly's near me has a press tool I can rent that will do the trick.

The truck is a stock 2005 LX470 with 305k miles - and to my knowledge none of these parts have been replaced before.
