FRedo,
see you got those 35's on. I'm looking for a little romping on the dunes action feller.

Hey Jim,

Believed it or not, those signs are actually 6" high by 6' ft long, and lettering is 5" high, best in bright or contrasting colors. Those signs are simply a rough cut fence panel, I brought from my local Home Depot for $3 each last year. Once I step back, the signs somehow looks so small!

If the sign comes in 3" by 3' then the 2" high letters would be unreadable from the decent distance unless you're underneath the post during relieving.

Or is it that you want smaller signs to save space for storage?

Cheers,
Snook's right. Of course he should be he made the awesome sign post!

Make them any size and we'll get them mounted!

(see above for pics)

I think I will finally be attending an event this year. I lived in SLO for a couple of years and I love Oceano, but I never wanted to take my Cruisers into the sand. Do you guys like Gin? And will my stock 97' FZJ be OK with the running boards? Hope to finally meet some Norcal Cruiserheads.

Will probably drive down early, early Sat. morning like last year. Fighting LA traffic on a Friday evening isn't my idea of fun. Will bring wine!

lol I'm in...... looks like fun

Gin=Good. Saphire is my favorite, but "Crown Jewel" is excellent as well, just hard to find. The Trader Joe "Captain Ahab" or whatever is good too for small $$$. Your stock 80 will be fine but I reccomend you spend the 5 minutes and remove the running boards. They might get bent as you break over the lip of a dune.

Guys, I think I'm gonna keep the MT/Rs on and go play in the sand with them to find out their (and my) limitations. Might as well find out with 200 cruisers around to get me out of trouble. So, if you see a stockish silver 80 buried to the axles, that'd be me in the middle of a traction experiment. Cool beverages for the rescuers!

Jim, anything we should know about tidetables and when to drive across the creek?
(http://www.classic-california.com/tides.htm shows low tide around 5pm on the 3rd)

I've had MTRs every time I've been on the dunes. What's the concern? You'll need to deflate to around 14psi (or whatever Jim recommends ;) ), but you should be fine.

Gin's good :)
I wouldn't be too worried about the running boards -- I think the sand would give way before you'd damage anything. They're easy enough to remove though, as Andy said...if you're really concerned, yank 'em :)

Each year, I leave S-n-T thinking that it can't get any better...and each subsequent year, I realize I was wrong the previous year :D
Looks like another grand event!

so Doug, no problem with your MT/Rs eh? consensus out there seems to be that MTs etc tires are not good at all for sand. I never tried serious sand with mine, which is why I want to give it a shot and see what will happen, esp. at limited airing down. A lot of places in Baja with rocky roads and sand generously mixed up on higher speed runs...

Anybody else happy with MT/Rs in the dunes or is that just Doug's superlative driving skills? :)

first outting - question on tire psi

i've been reading about this and am going to try and make it down to pismo if i can get off of work. would be cool to meet some of you guys in person.

question - i'm also running MT/R's and curious about airing down - 14 pounds seems recommended? is there a gas station close around there? no compressor on my stocker. e9999 - maybe we can compare notes as i'll be running them through the winter in tahoe as well.

looking forward to camping on the beach! i've loved the 5 cities area since growing up in the central valley.

LOeky,
Even if you make it down Saturday or Late Friday night....there is always someone up. My Entorage/camp will be.

Maybe a dumb question, but are dogs (canine, not human kind) allowed on the beach over there?
