David...
sorry to miss you guys this year. I couldn't get away from work. Anyway...

Is that your trailer? The stainless steel one? Sorry, I forget the name. A friend of mine is looking into buying one. Curious of your feed back.

Gosh, I should have just called in sick for three days.

Oh, and the Las Chiches trail was great fun too. Good suggestion, Jim! Thanks.

awesome!

Jim and everyone at SNT:

Great to meet you and the event was superb. Great sand shredding and great times. Thanks also to everyone we met who came along on the photo run. That run was HUGE! Ben and I got tons of killer pictures for the Surf N Turf feature, so be lookig for your rig in it.

Jim especially thanks for all your time and effort.

Just got home to Seattle. later I'll post pics for everyone.

Cheers!

Dave

Can't wait 'til 2006!

SnT 2005 was my first dunes experience and I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. My great friend, PabloVTA, talked me into going solo in my '87 4-runner (my man had to work) and I'm so glad I did. Met some very cool people (thanks again to Tare for helping me out Sat.) and had an incredible time. Just when I thought my money was better spent elsewhere, I have a wishlist for the truck; can I call it a "rig" yet?:

1) Rebuilt tranny (it pops out of first). It wasn't very fun holding it in first on the dunes and on the Pozo run.

2) Some serious help in the suspension dept. She has a body lift (on it before I bought it in '94); I'm still sore from the Pozo run yesterday. Was jostled around pretty good. If anyone can give me some direction on how to approach this, I would greatly appreciate it. I want her to ride like a Cruiser if at all possible!

Lookin' forward to 2006 already. Thanks to everyone who put this together!

Katherine and I REALLY appreciate all your thanks.

I'll admit to underestimating the time and effort that goes into this
loosely organized and informal event. But it is a labor of love and I
had a blast. I'm still a bit overwhelmed and trying to process my
experiences. I only wish I could spend more time with each of you and
your cruisers, or at least better remember the time I did spend.

But getting back to the point, I want to thank each of you for coming
out and making Surf N Turf a huge success. This was the biggest Surf N
Turf ever. I'm still counting names in the guest book but it was
easily over last year's 150 rigs.

As many of you know, I do ask for help and you're always there. This
year I left several important tasks unresolved knowing I could simply
call on my trusty cruiser brothers. You guys came through as expected.

I was tossing around commands like a bossy task master and everyone
was either jumping or asking how high. Dozens of people came through
to make this event happen. I'll refrain from naming names at this
point for fear of missing some of you, but you know who you are, so
thanks again.

OK, one more order, post up some more pics I want to see what I missed.

jim what are you and i doing up at this hour????? i don't know how to shrink my photos down to the size they are supposed to be on here. so we'll just have to have everybody else post up theirs instead! i can't wait to see Amando's pics :D

 SETHZILLA!

Now me wants a supercharger..

Matt - just read the article in 4WD Drive Toyota Owner Mag on David's rig. My guess on weight was pretty dead on at 7000lbs.

Great article to both David and editors. David (Silvercruiser) has a great truck!

I think it's called penis envy in phsyco circles. hehehe :flipoff2:

Hey Jim and Katherine, Thank You, i had a great time, enev if i didn't stay on the beach, my mistake from past experiences, Next year on the Beach in a trailer YES, i saw how comfy it was, If we only had Trailers on the Con,Yeah Right a bunch of Yuppies!!! I'll be there next year for sure. Gunner

I think that next year there will be a city of trailers on the beach.

Trailers on the Con.... Now that's a business opportunity if I ever saw one....

I just got home. RatPuke and FunkyMudMonkey are still on the road heading north. They should get in to Moberly Lake about midnight if all goes well.

Thanks Jim and Katherine for your wonderful hospitality as always. It was quite an experience for me to see Pismo while the sun was shining. Had a blast! Looking forward to seeing you at River Shiver.

Just walked in the door. Ditto what Bruce says. Awesome to see you Jim (and Catherine, Lynn, Ken and Brett of course). I'll post up pics in the swamp donkey section tomorrow or the next day.

Gotta sleep....zZZzZZzzzzz...............

To Jim and all the organizers, one BIG THANK YOU!!! It was a blast and very well organized this year, at least I could find all the poker run checkpoints this time.

Alvaro and desertdude (Pasquile sp??) thanx for helping out reseating Henry's bead. I didn't want to burn his tire and pressure sensor with lighter fluid. The CO2 worked great.

Randy thx for the Heinekens you found in the "dunes", they came in handy later in the evening :D

I will post some pix on the picture thread.

Wow, thanks to everyone for the good time, everyone I met was very nice! Thanks Jim for the great event. How come this isn't a sanctioned event?
I will be back again next year.

So who was at the Phoenix vs. New Jersey NBA game tonight in Phoenix?

Whoever was sitting behind Richard Jefferson's parents, in attendance obviously, had on this years Surf N Turf shirt. I couldn't see face, just chest.

So Jim, your event made national TV on ESPN.

Nice, so who was it?

Yeah, good call on the Tivo? Anybody? Come on, if they had a surf n' turf shirt, 80% chance they surf 'mud!

They had good seats for the game, at least.

It could be Dave and Darcy Cook from Phoenix. :)

Note: Dave, Darcy and Chris, Loreen arrived early Thursday morning and set up an awesome camp. They were one of the first to arrive. Not bad considering they drove straight through from Phoenix.

Their camp had a two car garage tent set in front of a Luv2Camp trailer. Their car trailer, comlete with astro turf lawn formed a patio featuring BBQ, table, chairs, lights, etc. Plus, they still had room to park the cruiser "inside". It was redneck trailer trash heaven! All that effort won them the Official "best camp" award. The prize thanks to ARB-USA consisted of a 25% off gift certificate and some offical ARB hats.
