But it bores me to death see a t-shirt and a hat being raffled.

Alvaro

Not trying to get defensive but since you are in the 4x4 business why don't you load your truck up with a dozen new winches and a dozen high-lift jacks to donate to the free raffle. Don't forget to throw in some ARB roof racks as well.

I guarantee we will not be bored during the raffle. :flipoff2:

You're missing my point. I think that raffles are a great promotional tool. What don't care for are live raffles. The ones where you sit through 50 t-shirts and hats to get to the big ticket items. I'd prefer the silent raffle, the one where you walk up to a bulletin board and find out if you won or not. Don't get me wrong, 50 people still get their t-shirts, plus the big ticket items. Just that they do cruiser talk instead of watch someone one give stuff away for two or more hours.

Regards

Alvaro

I totally agree. :) Silent Raffle.

a combination of silent and live would be nice.

silent for the little trinkets and maybe 10 or 15 minutes of live for the huge whiz-bang stuff.

:D

AS long as I'm winning th HUGE WHIZ-BANG (great word Doug) stuff...you can raffle it however you like. :)

We had a little rain yesterday which was a nice surprise. Today was beautiful at the beach. Sunny, warm and no wind. The ocean was like glass with some nice little swells.

I did a little scouting to find some new locations for Poker Run checkpoints. As most of you know, the Poker Run is not suppose to be a challenge run. Since it's unguided and you're on your own to find the Checkpoints (CP) I try to pick high ground for good visibility. I know some, OK most of YOU, will make it hard on your own. :flipoff2: I just want the Newbies and stockers to be able navigate the course.

When I looked at my GPS track it looked like a drunken sailor's track. You can see I was circling like a dog looking for a nice place to lie down. A couple of the checkpoints are pretty close together but that's OK. There is a fairly challenging series of dunes between CP2 & CP4 and CP3. Going down from CP2 to CP3 isn't bad because its downhill but getting back up to CP4 may require some careful route planning. Unless, you're driving a light rig with a big engine. There is an easy route - if you can find it.

I was also scouting the easy ways to get from the beach to sand highway. CP3 and CP5 are just East of Sand Highway 21 and 22. You'll see there are some corridors between the front dunes and the back but there are also some steep faces too. Again, a little route planning and you can find a easy way. But head out fast and direct and you will likely find some really steep slip faces. ;)

EDIT: Sorry, I just realized my numbers are off in the picture. The Finish is near camp at Pole 6 labeled P1 below. So really that will be CP5. CP1 is labeled below as P2, and so on...
Confused? Wait until you get into the dunes!

Oh yeah, you can go the CPs in any order, except you must go to CP5 last, label below as P1.

Maybe I should start over?
