the surf looked pretty fun sunday moring on my way out of the '07snt just north of the creek, didnt bring my board though
. count on needing a 4/3 wetsuit and booties if yer planning on surfin' for more than an hour. usually more mellow waves 1 hour south in santa barbara and ventura, but tell anyboby i told you so

With enough rain, there's a creek that busts thru to the ocean just south of the entrance. It's been dry the last few years. In fact, the only time I ever had to cross the creek was '04. It's been dry every SnT since then.
Thanks Brent. I am hoping to make this year's SnT. All those years living on the Central Coast, and not once did I hang out at the Dunes. Looking forward to it...

Are you asking if other stock trucks go to S-N-T, or if they jump stock rigs?
I brought my stock '85 xtra cab pickup last year and it did fantastic with just airing down. The year before I brought my slightly lifted 40. The 40 is way more capable, but the pickup did just fine out there. I didn't come close to getting stuck.

Awesome compared to Montana!
People surf near the pier further north up the beach. We always surfed at Shell Beach a few miles north up the freeway. If you go 15 miles north to Morro Bay, and you catch the right tide, you can surf in the cooling outflow of the power plant and the water is warmer than anywhere else. It's a long paddle though.
If you get homesick you can visit Montana de Oro state park.
