Happy Easter! After reading threads and not getting anywhere I’m posting up for input before I drop the glass back in. Patient is a 97. I pulled the glass this morning to make it easier to replace the plastic garnish around the bottom side of the sunroof, the old was original, cracking and rattling. Oak is NLA so I settled for grey. I’ve replaced the front and back pieces and liberally applied Honda Shinetsu to the rubber seal and I’m ready to reinstall to pop the side garnish pieces into place.

When I removed the glass there were shims in some places between the glass and mounting brackets, but not in each location and the PS had two shims while the back of the DS had nothing. Were these used to level the glass to the roof? I’m trying to decide if I put it back together the way I found it. Sunroof has always worked fine. Here’s some pics of the project and the shims as I found them.

Shims should be used to level the glass to the roof when closed. I cut slots in a few washers to level it up.
It's also a good time to clean the mating surfaces to get a good seal between the roof and the rubber.
Thank you for the reply, I figured that out after setting the glass in place and finger tightening the nuts. I ended up moving one set of shims to the DS that had none, and then added three flat washers to two locations to get the glass flat. It’s been cleaned, waxed, rubber seal greased with ShinEtsu and reinstalled. The grey isn’t bad against the oak. No wind noise and a rattle has been solved.
