Greetings,

Tried finding some help in old threads first, but I did not find what I am after.........hopefully someone out there will have the answer.

The parts pig I bought does not have any intact wiring, so I learned about the fun of getting the tailgate glass down, sans motor. Luckily there were some great threads on that topic.

At this point though, my tailgate is stuck. The handle did not do the trick, so detached the handle linkage and tried pulling the linkage on each side. Still no go. Tried messing with the latch mechanism from inside the tailgate, with a flathead, but to no avail :bang:

Am I missing a lock somewhere? Are my latches just stuck? Hesitant to kick the thing open, and the very nice glass is still in there (@bobm).

If latches are stuck, any ideas on how to unstickify them?

TIA:D

@Rix 45 will the glass rotate out of there? I took the weatherstripping out and sprayed PB blaster at the latches before I
posted. Thanks for the encouragement!

can't remember if the glass will tilt out- I want to say no...have you got the latches to move inward at all by pulling the linkages? can you see them thru the access patch while someone else is manipulating them?

Yeah @LAMBCRUSHER, I don't think the glass will come out unless the gate is down.

I can definitely see the lock tab and "star wheel), and the tab moves when I pull on the linkage. I can move the lock tab up with a flathead driver, but nothing really happens.

I feel like I'm missing some obvious component to the opening process.......

yeah...the lock tabs...if the ratchet is clear of the star wheels teeths, it should budge...

is the glass ALL the way down? there is an interlock for the glass position IIRC...my pigs ass isn't here with me...just the fro

I'm going to hook the linkage back up, put the glass all the way down again, push from the inside while my better 3/4 operates the handle. We'll see.....

Got it open!:bounce:
Turned out to be a combo of the latches sticking a bit, and a window-regulator actuated tailgate release mechanism (probably a simpler term for it). When the glass is down, and off the window regulator rollers, you've got to actuate the lever yourself. I jammed it open with a bolt so it would allow the tailgate latch to open all the way.

I was able to get the glass out before the tailgate was down; did not rotate, but pushed tailgate out enough to get the glass out of its track. Was necessary to pull latch linkage while :princess: operated the tailgate handle. For sure a two person job. Thanks for the input @LAMBCRUSHER!

Congratulations! That is awesome!

Is it me, or do these Pigs sometimes defy us to get them running?
