My custom "wide side" sliders have no top plate welder to them and they make fine steps. At first I was worried that my kids would fall through the steps without a plate but this hasn't been an issue even once. just put good grip tape on the tube

I agree on the badge doug. I was going to put mine there also, but i had a cool little red blister TEQ there allready. So mine went on the ARB rack.
