Your issues sound a LOT like a crankshaft position sensor....but I can't find anywhere if our OBDI trucks have one. I can find the part for 95-97, but having a tough time searching for 93-94 models.

I had every single issue you've described on another vehicle due to the CPS going bad (stall and restart while driving, issues at higher RPM's, all of it).
 
You can pull more suction on a larger volume of air. A full tank leaves little room for air.

I'm trying to think how the fuel pressure regulator is controlled. If you unhook vacuum to it, is it supposed to stay at full pressure? It's on the front of the injector rail.

If you cap off (remove vac hose) the FPR, it allows max fuel psi in the rail. I ran like this for few years with the LT MAF mod.
