Just picked up my 2013 LC yesterday and just tried to start moving all of my stuff from the Rover to the LC. There is NOWHERE to put any overlanding equipment. On the rover I could fit the Norco BG150 4000 under the passenger seat along with some ratchet straps. Under the driver seat I had room for my scan tool and a HAM radio. I was able to mount an ARB compressor in the storage cubby of the cargo area, tuck 12 feet of compressor hose in a setback pocket and fit my Safejack bottle jack kit, RTT awning poles, a blanket, breaker bar, torque wrench, impact gun and jack stands in the spare tire compartment WITH the tire in there. I can't find anywhere in the LC to store any of these things. Where do y'all put stuff?

Welcome to IH8mud!

Most 200 overlanders install ARB, Trekboxx or other storage units, which can also double to provide a long flat place to sleep when you flip the rear seats forward.

I just use an action packer box to store my stuff in. All in one spot and easy to remove when not needed.

The good news is your LC will actually start every time you crank it up.

Problem solved.

Norco can go in the glove box, or in the coolbox if you don't use it for drinks. The air compressor can go under the hood, Slee Offroad sells a mounting bracket. I have a CB mounted under the driver seat, I'd have to assume you can find a spot for the HAM (have also seen a HAM mounted in the glove box). I don't know how big/type of scan tool you have but that can go in glove box or coolbox too. There's a small cargo area in the passenger rear, which fits more than you'd think, especially if you remove the factory bottle jack.

Overall, there's probably less storage than you're used to because of the body on frame. The spare is under the truck, etc... it's not like a "town and country" with all that interior space you're used to.

Good news is, as others have said, it'll still be running after 3 years, after 10 years, 20 years, etc... if you keep up on maintenance, carrying a scan tool 24/7 may not be needed either.

And this will be the best $15 you've ever spent: search amazon for "Salusy Car Center Console Armrest Box Glove Box Secondary Storage For Toyota Land Cruiser 2008-2019"

I can honestly say that the Jaguar engine in the 2006-2009 Range Rover is rock solid. The air suspension and electrical systems are another story.

All good ideas. Thanks for the input. Its just going to take some getting used to. I like the drawers, but I have a 212lbs English Mastiff that won't fit with drawers installed. I'm even having to take out the 3rd row seats to give him room to lay down. 275/6518 Duratracs go on tomorrow and I'm moving the Wilco Off-road Hitch Tire Carrier over too. I'm confident my storage frustrations will fade into the night when it starts looking like something I might be excited to drive. Took some time for the Rover to take shape too.

Ok, slightly off-topic or maybe not... Pic of Mastiff in LC plz🙂 212lbs sounds like you have an amazing companion. I once read that you can take the weight of a healthy dog and compare it to a healthy male human if you apply a 3x factor. That’s to say your dog‘s strength rivals a fit 636lb human male.

PS- I also am aware the drool/spit factor may be as high as 1 to 1,000,000😂

Ya, my impression is that there are a zillion other things that stop many vehicles before the engine.
Including the LC. Three weak points to replace around 100k:
Radiator, starter, water pump.

Other than those, routine maint is about it.
Things can break—including some annoying items or codes...but not because they are weak or because of QC issues.

General QC on the LC is really second to none & I get the overwhelming impression the LR is pretty awful in that regard.
My next door neighbor just spent $130,000+ for their LR. The first three weeks? They drove a loaner, because their brand new one needed that much shop repair out-of-the-box.

**Their new LR literally didnt get them home from the dealer! And no...I am not exaggerating. It’s right next door. :(

He now has added a used Tundra, and he finally realizes that despite how posh his LR is, he doesn’t TRUST it. That’s pretty telling...

Anyway... Not bashing. Just seems to be true.
Congrats on your purchase!!
