Quick question -

What is the part that has the red power wire going to it; below and to right of Voltage Regulator?
.... and what is the purpose of the unconnected blue wire on the bottom of the Voltage Regulator?

It looks like the blower motor resistor:
Front Heater Resistor 40 series. [FJ40] - $29.00 : CruiserParts.net, Toyota Landcruiser Parts

The blue wire might IS be for little cap to prevent interference in radio/ham (condensor=condenser=capacitor=noise filter)

hj 60, - thanks for identifying the blue wire.
- the resistor with red power wire in question looks very similar to the
front heater blower resistor (the FHBR is on top of heater blower in pic)

So, what else needs a resistor that is bigger than the FHBR?

When I changed my turn signal bulbs to led my flasher relay was too fast. I used a 10ohm adjustable resistor to slow my signals down to a normal speed. What does the wire attach to?
