I like the stance too, and your right about the mud contrasting nice on the black.
How are things over in Norway?

Back to the truck, tonight I managed to get the lower radiator mounts I recently bought in, and all of the seats.
I noticed a lack of power the last time I had taken it out wheeling, and I have come to the conclusion that my fuel pump is dying. I rolled under the truck while it was running to find the pump spraying fuel.
And tonight when I took it for a road test, the top speed I could reach was 45 MPH:mad:
I'm sure the truck will be much better once I get the new pump in and get some seafoam run through the system.

Made some purchases for the dodge yesterday, it turns out there is a guy selling 37" military tires near me so I decided to get some. My friend Sean picked up some too. :D

I also learned why you shouldn't seafoam a truck inside. The seafoam did really improved the idle though.

Afterwords I took it offroading a bit.

I noticed when wheeling I kept getting knocked out of 4-lo.
I slapped a bungee cord on there to hold it in place but I want to figure out what the problem is and fix it permanently.

Does anyone happen to know what causes this? Is it the detent spring weakening?

In my downtime at my new job I started some sketches of the rear storage system.

Any opinions?

And to those that might be tuning in from Jersey, if you wanna go hit some trails let me know. Once I get the truck on the road I'll definitely be up for it.

Drool at those tires.

That fuel pump needed a little cleaning! haha

lol at the sea foam

The only thing that knocks me out of 4-low is my passengers knee.

I like the drawers. Would those side pieces rest on the wheel arches?

How deep are the drawers gonna be?

You just covered all of my recent posts, nice.

Yes the for the sides I'm thinking having them able to fold up would allow me to access my side panels still.

The drawers would go all the way to the back seat, and I would leave a lip for a sleeping platform. I might switch the drawers around a bit too.

Of course I did! I had to stay up to date :)

I like the drawer system. Are you gonna make it out of 3/4" plywood? Are you going to use drawer slides or just the good ol' friction fit?

Yeah, most likely 3/4" plywood. Friction fit on the drawers too. The slides are nice but too pricey.
I'll have latches on them to keep them from opening unexpectedly.

Too many drawers, too complicated of a design. Instead of that many drawers, make two symmetrical drawers, one of which is sectioned off into multiple sections for organization. I've found with my drawer system I don't feel the need for a way to get into the drawers without sliding them out.

Other than that, everything looks great man! Keep it up!

Maybe the linkage needs to be adjusted....you may be just barely engaging 4 low causing the slip out. does it slip out during load or when your off the gas?

rig is looking real good.....
I just did my wifes land rover with seafoam and smoked the entire neighborhood out and went for a drive after filling the Intake through the vacuum port with seafoam...I was smoking so bad for about 2 miles.

love the tires too.....Man your rig is looking good!

Johnny, What do you usually carry with you in the truck? I was planning on using those smaller drawers for tools and small spares like tubing clamps and whatnot.
The bigger drawer was gonna be for recovery items, spare clothes, and trail food. The last drawer was gonna be for larger trail spares like axles. I want to be able to bring a bunch of stuff with me.

Tom, I love the way the truck looks and handles off road. I love the tires, they clean so well and provide so much grip. Combined with the suspension and locker I'm never struggling for traction.
On road its a little underpowered, not terribly but enough to motivate me to get moving on that diesel swap.

I'll have to take pictures of everything to show you, it would take way too long to type out. Basically I keep all the tools in the passenger side drawer and all the fluids in the driver side drawer.

The front section of the driver's side drawer is now used for my Coleman 2 burner and underneath that is the griddle. The passenger side drawer is sectioned off with smallish cardboard boxes that organize everything. Between the drawer sides and the quarter panels are where I store my spare axles and driveshafts. Quite flexible I think.

I hadn't thought of storing the spare axles and driveshaft in the quarterpanel. Thats a great Idea. Thanks.

I still would like having drawers set aside especially for tools though. I'll have to think about it.

I feel the same way driving my 40 now with the 2f. Makes you want to get that project going huh?

After driving Tonto with a 383 stroker for 10 years.....going back to the 2f was quite an adjustment. But hey, It keeps me out of trouble. Besides I like the feeling of driving a 2 door tractor again...

Well see what happens this spring with my 2f situation.....4.8 or 5.3 maybe???

I really can't wait for the diesel to go in.
I have a spot in my heart for the old 2F, but with all the work that went into this truck so far it needs more power.

Recently not too much has been done to the truck. I did find and address a vacuum leak which was affecting performance but other than that no real issues until yesterday.

I went wheeling with my friend Sean and being that he just got some new 37" military tires on his truck I figured I would let him lead. The first thing we go to cross when wheeling is a bog he makes it across but towards the end begins to lose some momentum. Once across he sees a ditch, and instead of inspecting it he decided to try and back through the bog. He didn't make it halfway back in reverse so the rest of the day was spent trying to retrieve it. We weren't able to so we had to leave it.

On one of my trips to get more chain I blew a shaft on one of my new shocks. I hit a big rut at around 40 MPH, So now I have to get that replaced /fixed.

Hopefully I'll be able to do more wheeling and less extracting in the future.

Holy s***, that's a hell of a break. Did it bottom out / over extend? It seems to me that the shaft should never shear, in any situation that doesn't also rip out the spring.

If anything it might have bottomed out but I doubt it. When I was testing it with the forklift even at full stuff I had about an inch left.

From the failure it looks like the shaft just sheared. If they did fail I expected to see a bent shaft, not this so I have a call into the warranty department at Bilstein.

I noticed that one of my front bilsteins had sheared in the exact same spot as yours at some point. Po welded it back together and its been good for a couple years now. If they give you a hassle with the warranty try it, it may hold up for a while like mine has.

Very nice van by the way.
