Messed up how?I’m no expert and a sometime cynic, but that sht looks messed up!
This is true. You have a 40 column. Pull the switch out and look for a part number.steering wheel is a 60 series but that can be swapped onto the stock 40 steering column as the splines are the same.
Not sure when that style column started in the 40 series.
a switch from any year 74?-80 should be the correct unit
what is wrong with the switch?
have you tried cleaning the contacts?
Holy info! Thank you sir. This style column started 9/72 which is the start of the 73 model year. Those also have a radio opening. The lower padded dash was two pieces right of the steering column with the radio opening in the center. I'm only seeing the long one piece pad which probably means yours was built no later than 9/72.
If you can pull the switch back towards you and it then springs back to the original location it's newer the 9/77+ version. It if only clicks forward for bright lights it would be 9/72-9/77.
The part number for 9/72-9/77 is 84310-21010
9/77-7/80 is 84310-60070
8/80-10/84 is 84310-60072
What changed 8/80 I'm not sure. US market got a collapsible steering column. But other LHD markets without a collapsible steering column used the same switch 8/80+. If your column isn't collapsible good chance if your switch has the ability to flash your bright lights any time by pulling the switch back you have the 9/77-7/80 version.
Can anyone confirm what year this column and wheel are from please? It is a 72’ 40 series with lots of changes to it. I need to order a new turn signal switch, and rekey it as well.
Thank you.
