I have been leaking for a few days. Should I also top off on power steering fluid?

Any recommendations on what kind, if so?
Yes top it off, use DEXRON ATF. Mine has been leaking for 2.5 years. It takes 1QT a year. I wheeled my rig fairly hard and the steering rack seems to be holding up fine.

I started a new thread about my issue, but I think I got it figured out. Looks like PO had someone put regular power steering fluid in.
So I bought four quarts of ATF Dex III. Just regular old cheap stuff. I flushed two and a half quarts through turning lock to lock. It came out red after about 1 quart. But for good measure I kept flushing....it's cheap.

I put the correct level of fluid in and then added the AT-205. My plan is to drive for 5 hours and check again. I'm hoping this works.

If it does work, I will flush again. My thinking is the driving will allow any trace power steering the opportunity to work loose from any nooks or crannies and then be flushed out.

Once I do that I'll fill and add another treatment of AT-205 and send it....all of this is IF the AT-205 treatment is successful. Huge $$$avings if it works.

I'll keep you all updated. Meanwhile I'll be driving with a spare quart of ATF Dex III in the back and checking level constantly.

First thing I'd do is make sure where leak is coming from. Often times leak is from a hose or the vane pump. Typically these leaks are on passenger side.

Once sure it's the rack leaking add 1 1/2 oz of AT-205 reseal (don't use a stop leak) to Power Steering reservoir and drive for 5 hours minimum. This will not stop hose leaks, nor have I seem it stop vane pump leak. But works well on rack leak especially on input shaft seal.

If AT-205 doesn't stop leak, look into new or a remanufactured OEM rack. CVJ in Denver is one source. I'd not go with aftermarket.

What install cost will vary by area. Call around to Dealer's and local Toyota specialist. Don't use the corner general auto shop that works on just any vehicle.

This is great advice! When my rack started leaking, it was at the input shaft. My inner rod ends were also pretty sloppy so I just pulled the trigger on a rack from Toyota (reman) and new outer TREs.

I thought it was interesting Toyota did not want the old rack back to reman. So I called CVJ and they did want it! I think they gave me a few $ for it...

I was just going to start a thread on this @implayaz9 , I had thoughts of going to samurai motors for the install and buy a OEM Toyota rack online and aftermarket CV axles. LMK where you go when you do yours.

I wanted to share the quote I got from Toyota here in Vegas below a couple weeks ago.

-Brand new OEM Toyota Rack
-Aftermarket CV axles (Both driver and passenger side)
-Alignment
-Labor of course

Service consultant quoted me $2988.88 (Laughing in my head on the phone)

I might try the AT-205 Reseal suggested by @2001LC , but my boots are shot and are leaking, so I'm due for those. Hopefully my rack can last a little longer.
