Where can you get the steering column u joint replacement part form the one at the steering box?
Mine has a ton of play and is shot

Which part are you talking about?

PNC 45210?

My joint at the box has alot of play in it just like a really bad ujoint on a drive shaft

I know the toyota replacement, if you can get it, is expensive.

There has to be something else out there

I gues the only to find out is measure it up and see if there is a replacement out there.

Does anyone know what the spline count is on the steering shaft at the box?

Is your junk all crooked at the firewall? missing the gasket/firewall seal?

Yep my junk is crooked with no seal

Does not help that it gets abused regularly

I think my whole steering system is on its way out

What about the parting out section? I am sure you could find a good condition complete set to swap in verses new OEM or aftermarket.

If someone does source a used, I'd be interested in the take offs to try to find a means to replace rag joint and u joints.

I'd like to get rid of the rag joint, because mines in decent shape, yet I can visually see the deflection (~3/4") when turning wheels parked (yes, I realize the most stress) and feel it'll be a constant issue if it remains.

She won't win any awards for drive ability, with or without, so not concerned about increased wheel vibrations.

It would be nice to get rid of the play. I think it attributes to the slight wander I'm getting on the freeway.

Throw some Krawlers on, which is like driving on ball bearings anyway, and it gives wander a whole new meaning.

After replacing every steering component, the only play I have left is in the shaft, and would like to find a viable solution.

Your malls must have pretty crappy paving jobs. :flipoff2::hillbilly:

Here in the Bay Area we have to drive 4+ hours to get to any good spots. Rather have it drive cool. not like my old 85 mini with push pull steering.

Got to keep it on par with my pimp gold package...
