Looks great! You move fast! Lotta great changes already made and it's only been what, three weeks since you got her?

Thanks!

Yeah, moving pretty fast with the accessories. I had been looking for a Land Cruiser for over a year. So I knew pretty much what I wanted to do it, even before I even purchased it. I have a few things left to install (T-case spool, IPOR skid plate, interior tire carrier), but otherwise it's going to be basic maintenance for a while. I need to diagnose a CEL, and clean out my sunroof drains.

Thanks!

Yeah, I have been following your posts and it does seem like you researched all of this pretty well before you pulled the trigger. It all looks good though.

Thanks!!! That means a lot coming from a fellow enthusiast!

You're welcome! So how are you liking the truck so far? Has it met your expectations?

It has far exceeded my expectations in comfort and offroad capability. It just crawls over anything when it’s 3x locked. And it’s really comfortable to drive. Way more comfortable than my Tacoma.

If I had any complaints they would be:

1) Manual Transmission - I wish I could choose my own gears. I was climbing/descending some steep grades in the hill country yesterday, and I just wanted to be able to put it in the correct gear, and let it go.

For descents, let the engine do the braking. And for crawling, put it in 1st and let it go.

2) Torque - In conjunction with the manual, I wish it had more torque. Both for highway merging/towing, and letting it 4WD crawl at idle.

I’m still considering a diesel swap, albeit, way down the road. Right now I still think the 6BT/NV4500 setup would be the ultimate.

You can downshift the auto tranny. I shut my OD off when needed, and drop it into 2nd or 1st on the steeps. It works great for controlling my descent speed on the snowy back roads around New England.

Thanks!

So Im going to steal your idea and research, what did you decide on the interior tire carrier??

I thought it was really cheesy and would not recommend purchasing it.

Just about the only thing the Vintiques got going against them is the their lame name, looks awesome Will. Trying decide b/w them and tacoma spares for my rig. I think the Tacoma spares are a bit lighter and closer to OEM specs.

Hmm, I don’t want to run spacers...

I love that look - I got very close to doing the exact same thing to a jku I used to own. Was going to paint it the body color (which was a non metallic dark gray). I also like them painted white

Since we are talking about wheels, is there a 15” rim that will fit on my ‘94? I’ve got an almost new set of 36” Iroc radials that require a 15” rim that I’d consider running on my 80 if so.

There are some threads about that. 15" wheel requires grinding the calipers I think.

Looks like Tacoma wheels don't always require spacers:
Quick Wheel question

The 16x7 don't and would look fine if the flares are removed (which is what I plan to do), but the 17" Tacoma wheels will require a spacer.

I like the look of these Wheel Vintiques steelies, but I'm wondering if the lack of venting would cause issues with brake overheating?
