Starter

Im currently replacing the starter on my 93 FJ80 and was curious if the car comes with the 1.4kw or 2.2kw starter. Also, I am curious if anyone can provide input on if I should choose the 2.2kw, I take trips to the snow, but it rarely gets under 20 Fahrenheit. Thanks and I appreciate any responses.

2.2 kw 2.0 kw and 1.4 kw starters

Picked up a used 2.2 kw starter from voorland80 (many thanks again!). I thought it would be nice to see how the starters compared in size so I lined them up. Pretty impressive how big the 2.2 is

Check out this thread it has all the info you need on the different starters. Also if you search 2.2kw starter there are tons of threads.
Good luck. All of them will work. I keep a good spare just in case.

Check out voodu3’s link above and see if you can identify which starter you have. If you have the 2.2kw i’d Rebuild it. If you want a new one go to witsend and grab one of his 2.0kw denso’s.
