T Max winch with the control box moved. This was needed as it is with Warn's when you load the spool with 100' of 3/8 rope. The brackets WILL cut into the rope. Put it out of the way yet accessible. Wireless remotes are on the way to operate this thing, and a smaller T Max utility winch will be used to pull the front suspension down on climbs. Thinking I'll mount it against the firewall and use a pulley.

Another quality sponsor, Green Filters. Learned a lot about what makes these better than like products. Ditching the similar "red" one on my Powerstroke, AFE intake soon. Their filters come pre oiled, and their catalog is extensive!

Crappy pic of new passenger side motor mount. This will have more work done to attach the carrier bearing for the front shaft. I'll stand still when I take the next pic of it! The stock mount was right in the path of the shaft before mods.

And thats all for now....................................

What did you do with the D60/ minitruck flanges?

That rear DS is cute!!!

Traded them in to Jesse, which is where I got them. Sending him back all my slightly used stuff.

That just happen?
I talked to Jess a couple of days ago about getting a D60 mini flange..
He had to have some made..

However if he has yours in stock now ;)

I haven't sent them back yet. Call him and see if he wants me to ship straight to you. The are like new, 2 hours use.

send one..

Nice rig!! Just curious, could you go through a list of what you actually have in there at the moment? As far as drivetrain goes? I browsed through the 6 pages of progress (sweet BTW), and saw everything mentioned from Toy axles, to '81 FJ40 t/c, to Atlas t/c, etc. Curious what you're running with right now.

Also, what is your final gearing, curious because I have a '81 FJ40 with a SM420 also (that's where I stopped and you started :) ), when you're running on the course are you in granny 1st and just rap it way up if you need to spin hard to get up something, or do you hit it in 2nd, 3rd?

Man, I would love to build one of them Toys..."Honey, how big of home equity loan can we get.." :)

Thanks for keeping us all posted, these pictures you're posting are looked at by alot more people than you probably think.. :)

Hey Mark,
Drivetrain is the following:

79 2F motor with TBI and DUI distributor, stock intake and exhaust manifolds.
Sm420, mini reduction box (Marlin Toybox), to an OTT/Inchworm D300 adapter to an Atlas II (3.8) shafts by Jesse at HighAngle to the HP D60's (RockCrushers) with 4.56 and detroits. Transfered to the ground via Robby Gordon beads, ajnd 37x12.50x17 Red Label Krawlers.

The tcase of choice was Marlins newest creation, a rear disconnect Toy case, but it won't be available for a while. Had to have front dig, so the Atlas was the next in line.

Ratio: 7.05 x 2.28 x 3.8 x 4.56 = 278:1
As far as gear choice in comps, the obstacles dictate the desions. 278:1 is too low for anything around here, except the dryest of rock. Shifting a 420 while getting it doesn't happen, ever! More common is to grab the mini box lever and go to 1:1 for quick shifting wheel speed. Starting in the right gear makes a lot of difference, and thats a feel thing. But, when BigDude says "get it", he really means see if you can get air before it breaks something!

Thanks for the comments all. I snapped a few of it all cleaned up after the last trip out, I'll try and post em tonight.

A few more shots from the weekend when it was sunny! This is the new passenger side motor mount/carrier bearing support.

New Howe steering ram, needs the mounts moved 1.5" to allow full travel to the driver side. Also gonna flip it over so the ports are on the back side.

All clean sitting in the driveway. Front fenders had to be trimmed back, tires ate em! Still need to touch up the tube where I cut the fender tabs off.

The drivelines sponsered by "da man" Jesse at HighAngle. The amount of work he puts in to make sure the customer gets what he needs, is the epitome of "customer service". Besides Jesse is a hell of a nice guy, anybody that gets shafts elsewhere is depriving themselves!
