question # 642

The website says that ground fires are prohibited. Do you guys bring some sort of portable outdoor fire pit?

Del,

We have used portable fire pits before in the campsites. We typically build a large fire on the beach in front of our sound front sites. I think the pit is only needed if you want a fire at your site.

Their official rules were no fires unless they are in portable pits. We have made some at our sites and on the beach before and they have never bothered us.

what?

You can't have a fire at your camp site? What the #$@% thats a load of crap! Does any one have a portable pit? I might be able to scrounge one up.

Should I still bring firewood?

Adam,

Ill see if I cant bum one for us at the site. I asked and they were cool with the extra vehicle at $6bux a night so were still good there. And when your buddy comes I got another site to crash so no worries

:D

Radiator is in and plumbed, just need to swap some tires (never heard that one) and pack and Im ready. Oh I got a lot of that "work" crap to take care of and part a truck too but I cant wait for wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!

Post 143 was me not Brian....

As I said we've done fires at campsites before and never had a problem. I was just letting you know what I knew were the official rules. I think the worst that would happen is them telling you to put it out.

Thanks Al. I don't want to cause any problems. It's just not camping without a fire and bourbon.

As far as I know I'm gonna make it to the event, but without a truck. The 62 still isn't ready and also loaned my trailer to fr8dog. Ill be riding my motorcycle out on friday cause I still need some element of adventure. Hate to be a bum but, does anybody have room for a passenger on saturday? Cant wait to see everybody.

This quote is from Brian, not Al!!

I'm a pretty pretty princess!

To answer your question a little better Adam, I don't think anyone else even has firewood on their radar. Bring all you can. We generally held one decent size fire in a "common" are around the sound side and hang out together.

Anyone else have access to firewood?

 R

I have a small amount that I can send with someone who has space on a trailer or pickup bed. It's only 20 or so medium sized pieces. Good for maybe one night...

We gained another young one for the trip, so space is limited for us.

wood...

I will bring a good amount of wood in the truck. My buddy is bringing some wood to when he shows up on Thurs.

I'm also bringing a 8 ft table fiqured we could use it for something.

I'm on the 1230 ferry from Cedar Island tomorrow. If we need anything else just ask

Ramon/Allen, I cannot go Wednesday after all, you guys be safe on the way over. If anyone's leaving the Triangle area Thursday morning and wants to caravan, pls let me know.

Well, that sucks Joe. We'll see you Thursday.

Alright Ya'll... I got a couple compressors up there for everyone on Saturday. I talked with Jay and he has to go to a wedding on Saturday...so it looks like it will only be me showing you guys around if everyone is still interested.

Awesome!!! Look forward to it. Do we have contact info to reach you, or set a time to meet? Can you make it down to Frisco Friday night for some BBQ?

 Ramon

Feel free to give me a call anytime...two five two three zero five one five five zero. I live in Kitty Hawk. I'm not sure what I'll be doing in the morning on Sat. We can either meet in Kitty Hawk or up at my place in Corolla.

I have a real hard time passing up BBQ. My schedule is day by day right now. I've been out of the country for a month so I got quite a bit of catching up to do. I will try to make it down that way on friday eve. The fishing has been good down that way so how many more temptations do I need. We'll see how the rest of the week goes.
