Well i have not been able to do much over the summer. But I got the stock 40 springs cleaned up looking nice and i go to put them in. and they dont fit. Theres a little centering bolt in the middle of the spring that goes into a bracket on the axle but when i line it up the spring is too short. Is it possible someone moved my front axle? I even tried putting the springs in the back hanger first then the shackle and vise versa but nothing works. And putting weight on the spring just makes it worse. What should I do? change the location of the spring hanger in the back? Or get new springs? Couple pics showing you what i mean.

X2^^^

I've always found installing the springs first, then locating and bolting up the axles (new u bolts!!!) to be the easiest and fastest way. You may not need to undo the driveshaft, the spline may give you enough movement. From where you are now, I'd do one side at a time, just to keep things in position, then torque everything up.

do what i did, hook up a ratchet strap to your frame and the other end to the axle and crank her so it lines up

just had a second look at your shots, and im actually thinking if you put a jack right on your pinion and jack it up, that might just work

allright thanks for all the advice guys. Ill give er a try today

Well didn't have any luck. Going to try again today. Axle is now crooked too

you really shouldn't be having this much trouble.

with that length shackle you'll have several inches of movement to get that fixed end located.

the axle WILL move for and aft in relation to the frame to get the spring in. If the springs you're replacing were different the axle could have been too far forward(or too far aft) and needs to move to get into proper position.

Last couple times I did this, I had the frame blocked up, and the axle up on a rolling jack so it was free to move around, and used a come-along on the frame, and a portapower jack in various positions to get things to line up.

Ya. Axle is too far forward. Going to have to undo the drive shaft. But after putting weight on the springs they went flat and the 33's only had a couple inches of clearance. Might just get some BDS springs from westhore spring for more clearance and flex.
