So it appears my new Pig has split rims. I've never come across this before, but some researching and testimony from my tire guy says they are a bit dangerous to deal with.

They sure are heavy too. Dang!

I'm wondering if they are the stock rims on this thing though considering its an Australian born 1975 Pig. Any thoughts?

I do have 5 80-series rims in my garage that I could use instead. The holes and sizes seem right, but would there be any reason I might need to add some spacers to the mix?

At some point I'm going to do Disc Brakes on this guy, but right now I just was replacing the ruined rear tires so I can drive the thing.

Yeah, so..

Toyota split rims are not dangerous. They are a piece of cake to change. I changed 5 last month.

If you are unsure how to change them there are a couple threads on mud. I use a highlift to break the bead. Pop off the ring and put a new tire on.

Those are definitely 60 series Aussie split rims.

Most local garages and tire guys won't touch them due to insurance liability. Take them to a truck tire garage and they'll charge you the same amount as anyone else and they are equipped to deal with splitties safely.

Amen brother!

BLACKGOLD: If you need some tires for those split rims, let me know. I have several sets of 7.50 X 16 Bridgestone tires that came off of brand new 79 series pickups. They work really well on the split rims. I might be able to bring them to you in SLC since I will be up there in about 10 days. I will be working out at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele. I can even show you how to dismount/mount those split rims.

Here are the tires:

Hey Blackgold!
Good to see my old pig again! Post some updates! Love to see what is going on and what's happening to it now! (btw those were 60 series splits but you know that by now!)
