The Speski OffRoad, LTD 100 series/LX470 barrier is finally complete.

Construction is much like the 80 series and 4Runner. 3/4" square tube with a heavy gauge 2"x4" pattern welded wire. No drilling required. All mounting bolts use existing captured nuts in your Cruiser's headliner. This unit is designed for vehicles equipped with the rear AC option only. Final product will be powder coated black and shipped via FedEx ground. Not to be used with vehicles equipped with side impact air bags or with passengers seated in the 3rd row. For offroad use only.

    Cost:

$375 to your door powder coated black.

+ sales tax for Colorado residents
    - $45 bare metal
    - $30 pick up in person

Pictures below are of the final prototype. I painted this with a textured spray paint. Its the closest thing to the powder I use. I plan to make a small change to the production drivers side mounting bracket/s. In that I'll have it cut as one piece like the passenger. The only notable difference to the pic is that the junction between them will be radiused like passenger. Pics to follow after I receive the first batch of brackets.

I am now accepting pre-orders for the first production run. Please take the time to read all the info in the first 3 posts of this thread and ask any questions you have before ordering. Do to the different options and model year changes to the 100/LX470 I want to make sure this will fit your truck. Right now 1998-2002 seems to be the range.

    PM or email SpeskiOffRoad(at)gmail.com

Timeline will be dictated by the number of orders I receive. But the first batch should be ready to ship by the end of July.

I also need to note that somewhere during the production of the 100 series the grab handles for the 3rd row changed. One of you 100 series guys will have to let me know what year? (2003 or 2004?) My design only works for the earlier configuration. See pics below. #1-drivers side. #2-passenger side. I'm assuming the change happened with side impact air bags. You don't want to combine the two anyway. The barrier is also designed around the rear AC system. Without rear AC the grab handles are different from my understanding.

I REALLY like this design and idea. Volvo includes a similar safety feature but a mesh net. I am polling my club for interest. Thanks for a good product. (biggest fear is a roll over at high speed with lots of gear and my 2 year old on the 2nd row)

I can get you a shipping quote but I'm sure it will be expensive.

I started redesigning the mounting brackets in January as there were two reported failures and a few more who have reported vibration while driving. The new brackets are of a thicker material and punched out on a press rather than cut on a plasma table. Vibration is basically gone. I also suspect there was some tempering issues with cutting the originals on the plasma.

Anyway I am happy to report I received the first shipment of the revised brackets today. Please drop me a PM if you have the originals and would like a new set. I will supply them at no charge

All current back orders will get dropped off at powder coating on Monday with the new brackets.

New AC version available soon. Fitment of brackets happening this week. If they are spot on I can start taking pre-orders right away.

Edit 12/1/13: This has been taking much longer than planned. The prototype brakes have been made. It turned out that the barrier dimensions need to be adjusted for non-AC trucks. Hope to have this worked out around the new year.

Edit 4/22/14 go here for details: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/new-speski-barrier-100-series-no-rear-ac.803539/#post-9168993
