need mudhelp.

speedo on my 2004 lc not indicating speed. dealer says signal is being sent, but instrument panel is not registering it.

dealer skuggested new instrument cluster, but discovered it is no longer available:bang: dealer advocating send out to speedo shop for rebuild. thats 2 weeks and this is my daily (have a loner, but...)

can mud verify if its no longer available?

in a parallel effort, i'm about to go deep into the web....

I'll get into the "dealer gory details" after I get a working rig. don't want to get sidetracked....

thanks in advance!!!!

There’s a speedometer app on the iPhone to you buy time

I run a Lufi x1 full time for corrected speed with oversized tires. Easy and fast to get you up and running. Or use an iPhone gps app as suggested.

I would send the existing speedo out to a shop to get fixed, or buy one from a part out. Dealers are typically crazy expensive and a pain with this type of thing.

Well, it turns out I posted a similar question about 5 or so years ago. can you say memory fade  .

I'm going to run with an old cell phone/torque app while I decide which way to go.

I'll report back with the backround when I get the system up and running.

instrument cluster vendor that the dealer uses says "no stepper motors on that part". tried to convince the service rep to no avail. not worth my time as outcome won''t change (tough swollowing pride).

doing it myself w. tanin will save $1000 over the dealer. hate doing that as the dealer has warranty, where my work has none. plus, I will probably break some part in the process.

again, won't get into it untill my rig is back in my possession.

I found out the hard way the the cluster is somehow coded to the vehicle.
my 2004 has the stepper motors failing on the fuel and volt gauge, and I found a very good price on a used cluster that works 100% ( from a 2005) . i installed the 05 cluster in my 04, and everything worked perfectly , except that the CEL and other malfunction lights were lit. Scanning with Techstream found zero codes or issues, i could not resolve this, so i am back to my broken 2004 cluster. I haven't sent to to Tanin, because the cost to repair is $700-$800

I've hear during my efforts that reprograming to the vehicle is needed.

Overall I'm nervouse w/r to parts nla and how it affects my owning a 100 series (or 200 series for that matter). I know this is heresy, but I'm thinking of other rigs to pursue (says this 20 yrs of lc owner).
