The resetable tripometer on the speedometer face doesn't advance, it will reset though. I had the same problem on my Mustang and found a vendor that sold the plastic gear that had broken.

Doesn't anyone know of a vendor that sells the plastic tripometer gear?

Thanks in advance.

The odometer advances, but the trip meter doesn't?

Yes, speed is registered, but the trip mileage isn't advancing (the small indicator that can be reset). The large indicator that indicates total mileage on the vehicle works fine.

I am interested in this as well, mine hasn't work for well over a year. I've thought about tearing into but have reservations about doing so.

Then it depends on how this assembly is broken down by parts. Do you need to buy the whole cluster? Or can parts of it be sourced separately? Otherwise it's time for a junkyard trip, I suppose.

I have had my eyes open for a damaged cluster so I can attempt an exploratory surgery and figure it out.

Ah, you're way ahead of me then.

The way these things go sometimes, the one you go to the trouble of pulling will have the same issue:doh:

It must have a gear that drives off the main speedo drive somehow...

Mine is the same way. I tried repairing it a couple times with no luck. Mine was not a gear but a plastic bracket that holds the gears to the dials. when you press the reset it pushes the bracket away allowing the dials to reset to zero. I tried super gluing the part together without disassembling the whole thing but had no luck. I thought I took some pictures but I cant seem to find them.

Please find the pics so we can look at solutions. May be a 3D printer for new part fix? Thanks.

Thanks for the interest and your thoughts on this. I'm also very interested in seeing pics on the broken bracket if you can find them.

I had the same problem (plus my speedo went along with my cruise control - which is actually something I can't live without).
Sensor was fine. Turns out my speedo unit in the dash instrument cluster had gone bad. SDTrux (Darrell and John) ordered an OEM replacement, installed it, and had a legal ODO calibration service complete the job. Working great now - everything.

Interesting timing on this thread, my 93 trip meter went out about 4 days ago. Very annoying, but at least the odometer and speedometer are still working. Looking forward to some pics!
