Has anyone dealt with a speedometer that only works when you decelerate? Mine works great when I let off the gas, but stops working as soon as I accelerate.

Sounds like something has just enough play to disengage under the load of acceleration. I would check the drive unit at the transmission and at the meter.

I'm not talking about the outside connector, inside there are rotating parts on bushing - wear isn't compensated with thrust bearings.

When I bought mine the previous owner said that the speedometer wasn't working, and I found out that it wasn't even attached. I hooked it up but forgot to lube it. any way after breaking a couple and getting the wrong cable ( the one I got was out of a 74 mine is a 69), having to get a 74 dial and breaking my 69 dial and all of those head aches I ended up getting a GPS speedometer that I love. The only thing is I wished it had a trip-odometer. Without the trip i have to write my previous miles on the windshield with a dry erase marker to figure out my economy.
I am a little slow on the uptake today and the caffeine hasn't kicked in and then after what seemed like a couple of minutes I got it. I was going to say something inappropriate and immature but I will keep it PG
