Spark plug ejected - need advice on repair

Anyone familiar with non-Toyota plug wire sets? If it's not OME, ARB or Kaymar, I've always used Toyota OEM. Local stores (all special order) have choices between:

  • $ 55 - Duralast (#9061)
  • $ 80 - NGK (#4413, blue wires )
  • $ 80 - Denso (#671-6172, claims to be identical to OEM)
  • $ 85 - Autolite Professional (#96855)
  • $105 - Bosch (#09354)
  • $110 - Xact (#6320)

I know Denso is a Toyota OEM supplier, so they probably are identical. I know Bosch makes good stuff - are they better here? Prices appear cheaper, so I'll probably order online. Experienced suggestions?

Thanks,
Juice

Denso out of those choices. They are are equivalent to OEM in my experience. But NGK Blue gives you an extra 5HP at the wheels!

Looks like problem solved - thanks for the advice!

I replaced all the plugs, plug wires and chased the offending cylinder threads with a thread chaser. All plugs are now seated with 25 ft-lbf.

For everyone's future reference:

You need an M14x1.25 limited access spark plug chaser. Lisle makes one, model 20020.

If you can, buy Toyota plug wires. I went with Denso, which was 'good enough', but all the wires were just a little longer (0.5-2 inches) and had more play built into the distributor cap lock clips. Final installation just isn't as polished.

Now I'm just hoping it survives the drive home tomorrow... I'll post if it doesn't, right before I dynamite the whole rig ;).

Thanks again,
Juice
