I prefer NDs but they're hard to find sometimes in my neck of the woods. Also, for those of you running desmogged 2Fs there is a different heat range plug that works best (according to Jim C.). PM if you want the ND part number.

damn I think I paid $1.25 for the last set I got at the dealer.........$4 is NUTS! maybe that was installed :D

Pimp, I just changed the plugs in my 60 and the dealer wanted 4.00 ea. and the Car Quest had them for 1.50ea. Denso. Same with the FJ80 Dealer wanted 3.75ea. Go figure

Nippondenso......

Toyota's suggested list price is less than 2 bucks a rattle.

Any more than that and your dealer is hosing you.

I like the NGK and have run Bosch Plats but usually the NGK. Of course working in a parts store makes the purchase that much easier.
Not much talk about plug change intervals here or are we all going by the FSM severe service interval?
Russ

Well, I picked up some new plugs. I went with Bosch Super 7506's because NGK's were out of stock. The old plugs did have gunk build-up, but 1-3 were worse than 4-6.

The new plugs did help. She fired right up this morning (another cool one) and idled much smoother. Is it possible that one of the old ones wasn't firing at all (if so, I really think that was the case, as it was idling like caca and seemed to be "stressed" when running through the gears). All that is gone now. She is happy again.

Thanks for all the responses, guys. Appreciated.

WOW. No, none of them were that bad... not even close. 1, 2 and 3 did have that "carbon" kind of look to them, just nowhere close to that kind of buildup. 4, 5 and 6 were relatively clean.

Great pics, tonkota. Thanks.

Did they look like this:

This was caused by a slow leak in the head gasket.

Thanks for the pictures. I am thinking I might have a small head gasket leak but my plugs had no sign of white gunk like that.

How long were those plugs in your cruiser?

Thats looks like a big leak on your head gasket in all cylinders?

Get this:

I just called my local dealer here in the RIC. They quoted me $5.75 a piece for ND plugs!!! Then proceeded to tell me that he had to ORDER THEM!!!

So I called another....$2.85 a piece....and they have to order them, too!!! What the heck? So for all you guys in the west/northwest: Be happy you have plenty of Cruisers around for your parts shopping pleasure. Virginia STINKS!!! :princess:
