Bloomer, absolutely join us.

Looks like we'll be leaving out of ABQ early to mid morning (9-10ish) and joining up with a few local trucks north of town (marcfj60, etc).

Looks like there will be 4-5 of us from ABQ to Ouray.

Getting excited!

I will be leaving July 28. Here is my rough itinerary:

I-70 W is the route I am taking.

Atlanta>Columbia on the 28th.
Columbia>Denver on the 29th.
Denver> CO Springs on the 30th
CO Springs>Ouray for the event.

Afterwords I am debating on going to Moab for two days.

I'll need a trailer from Denver to Ouray for a dirt bike. Jon, I'll be PM'ing you regarding this today.

More details with confirmed times later.

Nick,

Good to hear that you are gonna make it!

Any details on that MOAB trip? I MIGHT want to tag along...

Nick -

If you get a chance, you should stop by on your way from Colorado Springs. We're camping in the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area, basically between Buena Vista and Salida. We'll be there the 29th-1st.

I plan on staying a couple/few more days in CO and take 70 back. I really want to show my boy where the Arkansas river starts...since it's so damn big here...in Arkansas. Trying to find the exact location now.

Oh yeah, trying to change the dates on my KOA cabin reservations to one day early so we can join the caravan from ABQ!

ABQ to Ouray Caravan

Looks like the meeting place on Thursday, Aug 1st for the ABQ to Ouray leg (for those who are in ABQ the night of the 31st) is at the intersection of Hwy 528 and 550. There is a gas station with a Wendy's attached to it SE of the intersection where we will meet. It's less than 5 miles from the KOA.

Plan is to meet at 10am local time. Two local cruisers--marcfj60 and slimbuddha--will be there to meet us.

Right now looks like it will be myself, BamaBrock, Bloomer, and possibly aaronrules.

Anyone else is also welcome to join!

I am so super excited about this trip. Like 12 year old girl seeing the New Kids on the Block excited!

Mt Massive and Mt Elbert both drain into the Arkansas River Headwaters..... You can find it at the base of those two mountains. Mt Elbert is a relatively easy 14er to climb..... It's just a hike really, but it is over 14,000 feet and you'll know it!!

So put me down as a for sure on caravanning from ABQ! They just emailed me to confirm the change! Now hopefully Amarillo KOA confirms the change too! Otherwise, we might be driving all the way to ABQ in one day...I really don't want to do that!

Will there be an exchange of phone numbers closer to time? I think the only reason I have my phone is texting nowadays, but I might be up to actual talking if needed!

All,

The link below is a contact list (phone numbers), a basic route (main cities you will be traveling through), and your radio information (CB/HAM) as well as what you can provide assistance wise to fellow members. Please fill out the information and save it. I have included my information. This will be a good way to touch base with other members that are driving 1,000+ miles out west. If a issue arises, we have each others information. Remember to save this list as a .PDF or print it the night before you leave. Data may not be available in all areas (to use Internet). If you do not wish you put your cell number, please put your email.
