Looking for Scepter gas and water cans in my area. Anybody know where I might find some in the greater Bayy Area? I called Mtn. View surplus and he doesn't carry them. Don't know where else to try.

thanks,
dave

The cans are not CARB legal and most companies will not ship to CA. I've "reshipped" a few for my CA friends.

I've never seen any for sale in the bay area. Was surprised last week to see carb-compliant jerry cans at harbor freight. You may want to try this place in Berzerkeley - you can see in the 2nd pic on their website that they carry various styles of fuel/water cans. Be prepared for a funky retail experience if you go - the place certainly exemplifies the Berkeley state of mind.

There is a surplus store in Mountain View on the El Camino.............I bought a Nato style there. It was more pricey than ones out of state, but it was worth it to not have the carb crap.

if you are set on the Sceptre brand, you're most likely going to have to smuggle them in.

I have been very successful getting surplus military Nato metal cans shipped in without questions asked. a little bit of searching on the web should net a result - i also posted a couple links here in this forum as i found them too.

the ones i found were about 5-10$ a piece. they were treated inside and in decent shape. i took some bbq grill paint to them and were almost completely new.

I checked out the berkely surplus place, pretty cool store. They do have used Scepter water cans, and there may have been a few used fuel in there. Didn't ask for prince though. I ordered 2 half size water cans from an online vendor. I already have a nice NATO can and will probably just keep it for now. I though the Scepter cans well made and I like the idea of a poly fuel can instead of metal.

no worries- i have been meaning to check out that Bezerkely shop for a while along with the one in Mtn View which is apparently very good. Im not sure if those screw in ones are as nice as the swiss army style with the spouts that clamp on.

the NATO can with clamp on spout is what I have now and it is a very good tank, I just hate the sound it makes banging away in the back on my truck and I have to be a litte more careful when filling so I'm not wrecking the paint as I hold it up to the side of the truck (not that I have great paint, but who needs more bare metal to rust).

The shop in Mtn. View is pretty good, and bigger. Though I thought the Berkeley store had a more interesting inventory.
