Because it would be a downgrade?Someone convince me that it isn't a good idea to just "upgrade" to the NGK coils
and NGK Iridium IX plugs.
I have always been told Toyota, Denso, or Flamma YEC. Anything else could be dicey, at least from the folks I listen to.Anybody ever try the Walker coils? I see them on Rock auto. Price is attractive. $22.79 each if you buy 8. part # 92120101
Don’t buy 8. Buy only as many you need to replace and buy one extra. Buy Denso. Buy the replacement boot kit for the rest.Anybody ever try the Walker coils? I see them on Rock auto. Price is attractive. $22.79 each if you buy 8. part # 92120101
I replaced all eight with Import Direct brand from O'Reilly's for $199.00. Rumor has it (per my mechanic) they're made by Denso (they look exactly the same). They also come with lifetime warranty.Has anyone tried the walker brand on Rockauto? $218 for all 8. Only reason I am asking is the 100 series I just bought has all 8 coils cracked to no end. I have zero error codes though... Other fun insights I found is that coil #2 closest to the firewall on the passenger side has a failed spark tube seal too and the boot and spark plug is covered in oil. But again no fault code.
I had a bad fan clutch bearing and replaced that as well and got some power back to the engine and some MPG. Right now the engine doesn't feel bad at all but has a bad bearing on the accessory belt so she's loud. Other than that all I can say is my 2005 Tundra and my 2008 4runner with the updated 4.7 felt stronger and faster.
Thoughts? Should I go through and replace just boots or go for all of them? Also I can't locate a timing belt sticker anywhere so when I do the sparks I will also crack open the timing belt cover to look but I am fulling assuming a timing belt replacement in the next year too just be safe.
Thanks for the advice in advance!
Ohhhhhh I really like that.... Maybe I'll go by there!! I am a huge supporter of OE but replacing all 8 for half the price sounds nice! hahaha The life time replacement sounds great too especially with how easy these are to service!I replaced all eight with Import Direct brand from O'Reilly's for $199.00. My sentiment exactly. Make sure to ask for a set, otherwise if you buy them separately it'll be more. in the last month I’ve done timing belt, water pump, crank and cam seals, valve covers gaskets, radiator, all the hoses, steering rack all Toyota parts but with as easy as these are to change I’d figure I’d give it a shot, especially when you can see in the picture they literally grind off the Toyota name and part number on the coil. I’ll be paying close attention to them for sure but my Toyota dealer wanted $1400 for all 8. I also wanted to just get this project done. I have bumpers and all the fun stuff to still install but I’m saving the fun stuff for last.Denso is good but a part with TOYOTA logo is made far too superior! I deal with toyota since 1990 and have learned it at multiple times. Same goes with a part made by Aisin and a part with Aisin and Toyota on it.
During the recent 25% off deal at the dealer I purchased 8 OEM coils 90919-02230 for $650. Listed for $867!
