That's not a sequoia....

Towing.

2003 Sequoia 2wd is rated for 6500 and the 4wd for 6200.

This 2003 Yukon XL is rated for 10,100 lbs

2003 Yukon XL SLT w/Autoride
8.1 liter (496ci) v8
tranny cooler, tow package, Bose stereo, front/rear heat and AC, a million way adjustable heated seats.
around 140k miles

Bought it in Raleigh, NC, 10 minutes from Johnny C. He grabbed it a week before a came down, took it for a long test drive then back to his house for a generous spray of FluidFilm (THANK YOU JOHNNY!!!!!)

I flew down with my 2 daughters last Thursday. We then drove it down to SC to visit my uncle and my mom (who is there for the winter). Then we drove it back to MD and stopped to see some of my cousins then back to Long Island.

Other than new wiper blades it performed flawlessly. 12.7mpg on the trip back at mostly 70mph. Great pick up... from 70-80 to pass a tractor trailer is effortless.

I plan on kitting it out to use as a camper/sleep space when needed. NOT making it a project, just some small upgrades for comfort.

In a month or so I'll be turning up the search for a 10k lb rated open car trailer... enough to tow the 60....

  • Vortec 8100 496 cu in V8 (325 hp at 4200 rpm and 447 lb·ft (606 N·m) of torque at 3200 rpm).

For further comparison:

2003 Tundra 4WD B-Cab 4.7L V-8
7,200lb capacity (with towing package)

2010 Tundra Double Cab 4WD 5.7L V-8
10,300 capacity

Well this idea of trailering a wheeling rig is all new to me... we'll see how it works out.

I'm actually doing research in that direction now...

So you use them?

Can you give me some specifics?

Does the anti-sway mechanism impact what happens in tight turns, like in a parking lot?

Depending on which side it is installed on... mine on right, a tight left no issues noted. A tight right turn will get maxed out.
Bottom line is it has worked very well for me and I have never had to get out and pull two pins to remove it in order to complete a maneuver.
Extended van, 20 ft trailer and a crip behind the wheel.

So I'm thinking I should trade in this Yukon for an older Suburban... I really like the old school style and I could use another small project... What do ya think?
