I'm putting in a 2F in my 73 FJ40 and I'm having some mild confusion on which of the two green connectors coming off the ignitor plugs into the voltage from the ignition switch. I think the ignitor is a 76 but may be later. it has two plugs one a male spade lug and the other a female spade lug. Please let me know which it is. The wiring diagrams I have were little help, thanks in advance, Larry

Which ignitor?

Larry,
Which type of ignitor?
75-77: use w/ points dissy
78-80: black box, use w/ lectronic dissy
81-87: aluminum finned box, use w/ electronic dissy

If it is the aluminum ignitor, wiring is ultra simple:
The wire that goes to the + terminal on coil, is the wire that gets +12V power.

The other wire goes directly to ignitor, that is tach output.

Ground is through the mounting feet, so make sure those are clean, and apply some grease when mounting, to prevent future corrosion.

Thanks Jim, the engine is out of an 81 cruiser and has the large cap distributor, and the ignitor has the fins, I'll ohm out the leads, they go under the cover and a wire comes out to the coil, so I can figure that out, thanks again, Larry

All the 78-87 ignitors are interchangeable. The coils are slightly different. 78-80 coils work with an inline resistor wire in the vehicle harness. 81-later coils run on full 12V. I've run the 78-80 ignitor&coils on full 12V with no ill efects.

The 75-77 points ignitors are completely different, designed to be triggered by points.
