Sorry if I woke anyone when I left early this am. Nice long 16 hr drive back home today.

Decided to take a shortcut and cross engineer pass this morning. I wasent trying to but I lucked out and got to the summit just as the sun was coming up.

Perfect ending to great weekend with amazing people and beautiful rigs can't wait to see you all again

Kinda off topic but any major loss of power issues at altitude ?? I've hesitated taking the 60 out there thinking it would be a real dog at that altitude

A gassers had carb fueling issues and the oil burners crop dusted the mountain side with blue smoke.

I didn't have any issues even at 13,114 feet on Imogene Pass, but I live at 7,240 feet and have the carburetor and timing set up for that altitude and higher.

Wow! Amazing scenery.

Looks like a great trip. Trails appear suited to lightly modified rigs. Have always wanted to explore The Rockies. Maybe I'll invite myself to next years event.

The only real modifications to my '76 FJ40 are an H41 4-speed mated to a 3-speed transfer case. I'm currently running close to stock size tires. The lower gearing really helped out on sections like this:

Very cool. Glad I stumbled onto this thread. May be interested next year. I'll have to remember to keep an eye on the events thread for details. Hoping to get to HIH too so would be nice to get my 80 to the San Juans. Awesome pics everyone.

That looks like an awesome time! I really would like to make this trek next year from AZ if it happened again. If there are any plans please someone send me he details so I can plan accordingly.

I have heard but not verified that: (1) ethanol is used to boost octane, and so 85 octane has slightly less of it. (2) ethanol has a lower vapor pressure than gasoline and will boil-off/evaporate faster than gas.

If this is true then the higher octane alcohol blends will be more likely to have performance problems and to vapor lock especially as altitude increases. This for carburetor equipped engines.
