I have a set that are going on my 60 too.

Course, I already had them and the 60 did nto have anything :D

Don't consider a springover cheap. It never is as cheap as you think it will be.
Nickle and dime ya to death..

I wish i did it for that cheap....after u-bolts, brake lines, spring perches, hy-steer,wheels & tires, add a leafs, shims, anit-inv. shackles, bushings, etc. etc.... i was pushing 1500 easy...

....then to make it right....re-gear, wrap bar, protections for the belly, kunckle re-build, and im still collecting parts that would normally break on the trail with big tires and a big lift...birfs, inners, rears, d shafts......

its a snowball effect...but its one hell of a ride. More fun this way anywho...

and tonight for offesting those wamping meats...4 runner calipers...

My bad, I was just remembering the perches and shims.

Only shimmed it twice to get it right ;)

Mace master flex ya thing its a better idea to keep the cores and re-build them later on down the road for 4 wheel disc? of get 70 bucks for em? its a tough callll

Just use the Montecarlo brakes on the rear.

Stupid cheap..

$70 will get you 4 loaded calipers and the new disks from autozone..

The MC calipers are nice and small. And will still be able to lock up the rears before the fronts..
Fronts on the rear are more expensive and will provide more braking power than you really want.

no friggin way....

Montecarlo calipers (loaded) and disks.....what year? any other info should i know? do the brake lines match the MCarlo calipers? and is there a place to copy a braket or buy one to mount all this new technology?

As for towing, I want to tow an enclosed snowmobile trailer, probably 1500lbs empty, 2500lbs when full of sleds and gear. I know that the current motor would not take that, but the one that I'm going to put in will. I want a suspension that will work for me now and later, not just now.

I didn't think of the steering issues. Would it be advisable to buy a Hy-Steer kit to go with the conversion? Actually, I don't really know how the Hysteer works, unless it's the same as the stocker setup.

What about sway bars? Extenders? Quick disconnect?

I'm gonna guess the stocker springs wont last too long with pulling all that weight around.( could be wrong though...ask around) So you'll prob need new stock height springs for the SOA and yes you will need High steer arms and the drag link to go with it.....and pulling all that wieght un-geared sounds like a smoked clutch...so add new gears on the tab brotha...

Sounds good. Now the 62's came with 4.11's right? So I could swap the third members out, in theory. I have heard of this on this forum, and I need to know if it's true. Anyone?

Where would I buy heavy duty stock height springs? I have never heard of such a thing, short of having them made.

Alcan for springs....tell them what you need and are doing with them and they will make them to suit your needs....

4.11s will drop right in....would be good with 33s and towing but if you are dropping in a bigger motor with more torgue than you could prob. swing 35s

But don't 33" or even 35" tires look funny with a SOA rig? No offense to anyone, I'm new to this big of a lift.

What's just above 4.11's?

Thanks. What speed would one be going with either gearset at highway speeds at what rpm's with 36" tires?

i *think* with 4.88s and 35's that you get almost stock gearing. for me that was ~3000 rpms at 65 mph.
I'm not sure with the 4.56's. Try doing a search, i know their have been lots of threads about gearing.

Looks like 4.11's with 38" tires is the right price at the right speed. 950 rpm's at 5 mph sounds pretty close to stock. I don't think that it will be a problem, do you?

I meant 646 rpm's at 5 mph.

:whoops:
