Flat nasty is awesome & still my favorite place. I love rocks & both places have plenty.
Black Mountain is great & I wanna go back.

We spent 7 days at FN & wheeled a bunch...I put like 13 miles on my rig....we wheeled 2 days at harlan & I put almost 35 miles on my rig. It's a long way between obstacles there.
But the roads that lead to the obstacles are pretty fun stuff most of the time.
Harlan is definitely my 2nd favorite place.

And Harlan has bears .....ask us how we know. If it only had the river and a big pasture with no one else around for the whole week.

Yes. It do has bears!.
If I wasn't so excited to see a real "wild" bear, I might have thought to get a pic.

Plenty of secluded camping in Harlan, And Im pretty sure there is a river around there... There are local kayak rentals.

Todd, Stanley was your bear stand in at the Hoedown.
So where was the bear sighting, on a trail run or by camp?

Trail run. On our way back from Lions Den, around dusk. maybe a 300-350 lb Black Bear. He/she kept trying to run away from us, but since it kept to the road we kept catching up to it around corners. We would stop and let it run off.

Stanley is a poor bear....he bites, growls, and barks less than Todd....
