I plan on using the same setup this year. I might try a second EZ-up for more protection. I'll see if I can get it back from the guy I loaned it to. . . a year ago:mad::mad:

Looks like the Friday morning caravan for me - anyone coming from South of the 55 fwy Friday morning? When might you pass by and what channel?

Boyd,

Our scout troop has two ez up awnings. We only have a day bike ride at this point for the 3rd because O'Neal Regional Park is still closed due to the fires. The troop had planned a bike ride to the Park and an overnight camp. Since that's off, I can use the two ez up's. I can grab a LARGE blue tarp that will stretch the length of both awnings from the troop also. Be prepared with lots of zip ties! I'll be coming in Saturday morning, so save room for both awnings.

Most of us down here haven't hopped on the 2M bandwagon yet James. I know Dave has his license, but I don't think any of the rest of us have yet. I've been studying (reading the book) off and on (more off) for several months. I need to just bite the bullet and schedule the damn test to force myself to get it done.

I remember doing that trip. . . back when you rode a beach cruiser or a ten speed. I took a ten speed "because it was so far"; got all the way to the park then got two flat tires. Fixed the two flats and got another within five minutes:mad: Tried to patch that one, but there were too many holes in the tube.

Nowdays I'd take the Cruiser;p

So, I'll save plenty of real estate on Friday!

Sounds good on the real estate Boyd.

Riding to Cooks's Corner is a bitch, especially if Santa Ana's are blowing - uphill and into the wind the entire way. Makes coming back much more fun tho!! Gotta laugh about your flats. A couple of years ago on this trip, a bunch of the kids and our Scoutmaster decide to do a little 'offroading' along the bike trail...right through a large patch of thorny brambles from trees. We had about 10 flats! No scout troop could have been prepared for that one! Chase vehicle we use was very busy!!

I'm not sure when I'll be leaving but hopefully will see you guys on the road up! Do any of you have 2M radios and what freq will you be on?

James, I am running HAM and will be using the "Nor Cal" freq. 146.46 for my simplex communications. My call Sign is KI6KNB usually followed by my Mud name.

Let me know when you plan on heading up... should be able to chat within a 20 mile range on the Ham.

try the repeater that Jim suggested on 147.000 . He said it'll go from Santa Barbara to Pismo, and given that it is at something like 4000 ft and the coast curves , I would not be surprised if it were to reach LA on the south side. If so, you could do SnT from L.A. ! :)

Even before I bought the cruiser I started a spread sheet of all my wish lists and research. 95% of the ideas that I get come from ih8mud. Sometimes I catch myself browsing the classified to find something that I *need*.

Now the trick is actually trying to get out there and use the cruiser, instead of just wrenching on it in the middle of the night (the only time I have free anymore). Sleep, who needs sleep? I have a landcruiser (and three kids, a wife, a business, etc, etc)!

See ya at SnT!!

*note each mod will increase in $500-$1000 increments.

Seriously...and the size of the list exponentially...I can remember when I told myself that I'll just take it easy for a few years after my OME and 33's.:grinpimp:

Stan, Scott and I will be on CB 3 Saturday morning early.

Brent - for us in the Santa Clarita Valley, same gas station and time we met up last year?

If I have the time Ill buy my 2m radio and try to install it this week. I have a cb can hear but cant transmit - we (socal 80s) need to go HAM.

Sure - which exit was it again tho? I don't remember. We ought to be in the Ventura area around 6:30 to 7 if we get out of Laguna Niguel at 4:30 as planned.

Still up in the air about going or not.... How long of a drive???
