I plan on heading up to the Gallina area north of Cuba on Saturday or Sunday, depending on when the current storm comes in.
Forecast looks like Saturday could be good.
Planning to tow the 4Runner up to Santa Fe FS road 7 off of Hwy 112 south of El Vado, then motor around that area. If conditions allow, I very much would like to follow FS road 8 south to Hwy 96 at Gallina then return to the tow rig on Hwy 112.
Anyone interested please reply. Which day is best?
Chains - prolly a good idea, though I do not have any for the 4Runner's 37's
To complete FS road 8 may get kinda deep. My expectation is that the cold temps and fresh powder will not make for very icy conditions. If that proves to be false then there are other lower options in the area.
I love this area... bountiful wild life and generally very few humans, making it worth the longer haul up and back.
