If you're following another vehicle...this is the minimum dust...

The main reason for one other than the obvious aquatic benefit is it is much less restrictive. All you have to do is look at that little resonator box inside the fender and you will see what I mean. The snorkel allows more, cooler, slightly cleaner air than does the stock inlet. This is especialy important with a forced induction engine. When I fitted mine I noticed a slightly "crisper" throttle than I had pre-snorkel. That may have been a placebo effect, I can't prove it. I do not hear any wind noise from it. As I have a 93 with pulsed-air injection I get a bit of a "burbble" when the engine is dead cold and the air injection is operating but I kinda like it.....:D

Thanks for all the responses....i believe im gonna do it..if i get it in and wimp out on cutting the hole I can just post it up on here or ebay for sale and probably only lose a few $$...So now that its kind of decided will I need any additional parts not included in the kit (besides the round nut inserts that work better). Will my air filter still be the same? Sorry for the dumb questions but I have never seen one installed.

Look inside the passenger fender well and you'll see a hole in the inner sheet metal where the stock air intake comes in. After ripping the stock stuff out of the fender well, the snorkel comes through that hole and it uses a connection tube to plug right into your stock air cleaner as-is.

Cool...Im gonna check it out...Ive looked on Slee's site and Georges...George's site states that the new snorkle will not require you to heat the snorkle to form it for the antenna is this correct? I want to have everything ready so that when I get the parts I can dig in without having to make 50 trips to the parts store or hardware store for odds and ends.

The new version will just barely clear the antenna.

THE RIGHT ANSWER! cooler air is definitly better for your air fuel mix. even on the hottest day. the air in front of the grill is hotter than the air at the top of your roof line. cooler air mixes better with fuel. fact!

So if I am getting significantly cooler air and changing my Air Fuel Ratio do I need to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery. I know that when you add a high flow intake to import cars you must reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery so that the computer reads the new addition and adjusts fuel delivery accordingly.

so THATS what that is..

always thought it odd that a modern EFI vehicle would stumble cold like my '93 does.

I noticed increased intake resonance, particularly at 1800 RPM. Put your hand on the snorkel with the engine at 1800 and it is very noticeable.

Trouble is, I don't take the time to shoot as much as I should! Too busy havin' fun!

Take 4-8 quality photos, jot down some notes as you go, formulate that into 1500 or so words when you get home. Bingo. :D

Because it looks cool junkster! Sides that its great fun to answer those 'what the heck is that' questions at the gas station.

That's exactly why I wouldn't do it again. It's kinda neat having the only one around. Every damn day with the questions is a PIA.

Besides it entices you to do stupid things with water to justify having it on there. :)

Yup, and in big dry lake beds it's literally like driving in a huge cloud of fog. That's actually what first prompted me to look at a snorkel, not the water thing...

My goal is to build my truck to be very capable but still very well mannered on the road...although the 80 does this very well in stock form I believe that it can be improved....I want OME because I dont like the wallowing soft ride of the stock suspension...The ARB is functional for protection as we have a lot of deer hitting car kind of accidents...none of these will really increase noise...the snorkel is kind of the one thing that is kind of functional but more cosmetic than anything for me...I want to be able to cruise down the highway to my hunting spot in a comfortable, good handling ride...then make it through the mud and creek to get to the cabin and duck blinds....I would love to have a rig with all the goodies: sliders, snorkle, arb bumper, roof basket, rear tire carrier, 6" lift and 35's but that will be some time down the road when I have another daily driver.

Anyone living in a city that has flooded streets would love a snorkel. There is always the splash factor when a cargo truck passes by. Sure you have to proof the engine when you deal with 3' of water, but the snorkel is the final step. There is very little chance in my mind that the snorkel can be bling where street flooding is a regular consideration. It's no fun to be stuck in water.

for cooler air, it would though compensate for more air flow. hence the air flow meter. cooler air no,more air yes.
