The trucking company just dropped this in my driveway. As soon as I’ve rounded up some missing parts, I’m going to start a build thread in the maid 80’s section, but here is a sneak peek.

05 Tundra 2UZ-FE and a Cruiser A750F :bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

The wiring gives me nightmares, but I've got my wife's 100 as a cheat sheet and the seller gave me a ton of great documentation.

Now I just need the flywheel, alternator, exhaust manifolds, belts, ect…

No more drag racing thru Irvine with you once you get that monster installed! Look forward to watching the progress.

:popcorn: Curious what the cost is for motor, labor and other parts needed.

I'll have to get back to you on total cost. I'm still sourcing a lot of parts that will be needed and I have to fab a complete exhaust system with cats and O2 sensors to satisfy the CARB ref.

I got the motor and trans with a bunch of extras like the drive-by-wire pedal and ECM for about $2600 delivered. It was a great deal on a low mileage setup, but I know the mudder I bought it from took a big hit from what he paid.

Labor's all me so I can't help you there. It's going to take a lot longer that way, but it'll be a lot cheaper.

I know you can go a little cheaper and with much less grief if you use a non VVTI 2UZ from an 01-04. The wiring is a lot simpler and you can bolt it up to a A343f transmission (96 cruiser) with some mods using parts from the Tundra A340 Trans.

This is a VVTI motor with the A750F so it's a little more expensive and a lot more complicated, but I wanted that 5 speed auto and I love driving my dad's VVTI Tundra.

The $ is going to add up fast. I'll let you know.

Awesome deal! I assume that you bought Jason89i's unfinished set-up.

I have decided that this is the exact motor/trans combo I have been considering...

as it gives the added power, torque, convenience of running 87, better mileage than the 1FZFE and the wider range of gearing that will make the 80 a beast from low speed crawl to freeway puller.

If you're interested, I'd be willing to help you out with the install and with getting/building custom items like motor mounts, brackets, piggy back wiring harness, etc... because I will need all of that stuff in the near future once I acquire all my parts.

Sounds great. I would love the help. You're exactly right. This is Jason's old setup. I was looking for a diesel, but this was too good a deal to pass up.

He really did a lot of the work already tracing wires and he sent me a ton of extras. He's a really great guy to deal with.

I'm still probably several weeks out from wrenching. I'm still gathering some of the parts needed to do this. I'll shoot you a PM.
